What You Will Do

Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Information Services Co-ordinator is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and evaluating business processes and user needs in order to determine system requirements and co-ordinate the development of systems from initiation and planning to development and implementation. These responsibilities include cost benefit and feasibility studies, documentation and validation of business requirements, process and system design and installation/implementation of systems of medium to major complexity. The incumbent may act as a Project leader for various systems, or operations related projects. The incumbent may also be instrumental in continually expanding application use by clients, demonstrating business solutions, configuring applications, providing quality assurance testing and training as required. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for researching and reporting on operational procedural problems, directing project teams and managing departmental contract initiatives.

This involves:

  • Functioning as the Track & Structure Departments main IT representative and liaising with staff from the Information Technology Services Department and external companies regarding technical requirements, and other end-user computing hardware, software and operational issues;
  • Evaluating requests for new information systems or revisions to current systems;
  • Co-ordinating responses to calls from end-users and providing follow-up support in all areas;
  • Resolving system problems of all nature (system crashes or failures) and ensuring data files are correctly restored;
  • Formulating procedures to guarantee that the Track & Structure Department's critical systems are operational and recoverable in the event of accidents or disasters;
  • Acting as consultant on the new technologies available to the users, with the objective of improving the end-users productivity and taking action to accomplish this.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

  • Your application will demonstrate several years of directly related work experience in an environment involving the technical aspects of multi-disciplined computer functions and systems;
  • Your application will also a good working knowledge of personal computers and peripheral equipment;
  • You have knowledge of the information technology processes and operations utilized in the Track & Structure Department;
  • It would be an asset if your application demonstrates proficiency in computer programming using visual basic or C# ;
  • Your educational background with a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in computer science or a related field is integral and will contribute to the success in this role;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate efforts of others;
  • Possess analytical and problem solving skills with effective verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to gather information, conduct research with superior analytical and writing skills;
  • Manage conflict and ability to problem-solve.
