The Financial Management Gateway (FM Gateway) is the government of Ontario's virtual hub where all finance, risk management and internal controls policies, tools, learning resources, and community events can be accessed. The FM Gateway supports consistent and effective practices around finance, risk and controls; improves financial and risk management capacity within the government; facilitates strong partnerships; dismantles silos; and builds communities of practice through greater collaboration, knowledge sharing and effective file management. It is used by over 23,000 unique visitors annually across all ministries and agencies.

Are you a leader with an Information and Information Technology (I&IT) background interested in an impactful and challenging role within the Office of Provincial Controller Division (OPCD) that will allow you to provide continuous, innovative solutions to the finance community? If so, then consider this role to provide project management experience to support and improve the Financial Management Gateway.

About the job

This is an opportunity to:

• Provide technical I&IT expertise and leadership in the design, development and implementation of effective I&IT solutions to better support the finance, risk and controls community and improve cross-division collaboration as well as collaboration with line ministries, crown agencies and the broader public sector
• Lead and manage the design, development, testing and implementation of future releases, system upgrades, interfaces and new functionalities for the Financial Management Gateway including improving the content and performance measurement tracking
• Deliver creative IT solutions to meet the evolving needs and demands of the government finance community and senior executives

What you bring to the team

Financial Management

  • You understand how to plan and allocate resources over multiple years to achieve strategic goals;
  • You know how to manage and report on public funds, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • You can prepare and present financial statements and reports that comply with regulatory standards;
  • You are proficient in using financial management systems to track and manage financial transactions.

Knowledge of IT Systems:

  • You are familiar with the stages of system development;
  • You demonstrate expertise in creating and deploying IT solutions;
  • You are proficient with standard desktop software and specialized IT systems.

Performance Measurement and Project Management

  • You have knowledge of performance measurement development, monitoring and assessment techniques;
  • You have experience managing various projects.

Analytical Thinking

  • You can develop and recommend improvements or new technologies;
  • You can identify opportunities for legislative reforms;
  • You have strong analytical and research skills.

Communication and Stakeholder Management Skills:

  • You possess strong consultation and advisory skills;
  • You can develop strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders;
  • You have effective communication skills.
