Job Description:
Role Summary:
The Business Systems Consultant will use his/her knowledge of business objectives, processes, products, technology and quality concepts to:
Partner with business and technology areas to ensure the delivery of quality solutions that meet the needs of the finance business users and stakeholders in both project and operational support roles
Plan and manage the business requirements effort on projects to support business needs. This includes estimating and managing changes for business requirements.
Provide application support in the Corporate Secretary and Legal business production environments to meet Service Level Agreements.
What will you do?
Identify, document, and assist in the re-engineering, improvement, or replacement of business processes and associated technology
Elicit, document, examine and manage business requirements on projects by following the current company application development methodology. This involves managing business requirements sessions, conducting interviews and assessing existing documentation
Develop and maintain relationships to facilitate the communication between the business and various technology areas
Facilitate and perform business requirements elicitation sessions, fit/gap analysis, risk assessment and business requirements validation
Translate business requirements into functional requirements. Ensure traceability and understanding of the requirements by all project/support members to enable systems enhancements/projects to be constructed
Conduct end user training sessions and prepare user training manuals
Provide production support and troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem management
Participate in Project Management activities such as managing the delivery of projects through initiation, estimating, work planning, analysis, design, constructions, deployment and post-project review
Participate in and/or create test strategies and test plans as a member of a project team, and execute test plans as part of the production support role; engage the Testing Centre of Excellence as appropriate.

Functional/Technical Skills:
Solid knowledge of business analysis principals and best practices with 5+ years' experience
Demonstrated skill in eliciting business requirements, writing specifications and coordinating implementation of projects and system changes, preferably for Treasury business applications
Strong experience with full life cycle of software development, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, rollout, implementation and training
Experience working as member of team on small- to mid-sized IT projects, and implementation of enhancements on existing business applications
Knowledge of systems integration management methodologies, processes and techniques
Analysis: ability to break down high level business requirements into more detail by questioning and probing for clarification
Problem management: able to identify problems based on the occurrence of incidents, work to prevent or reduce the impact of such problems whenever possible
Deliver training to support staff (i.e. prepare and clearly present/explain information so it can be understood by others, ability to transfer knowledge clearly and effectively)
Proficient with MS Office suite of products including Visio
Solid working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence Cloud as well as familiarity with Kanban boards
Proficient with IT Change Management methodology
What will be nice to have?
Process improvement experience
CCBA or CBAP designation
Notes/Unique Requirements:
This role supports internal business clients in Waterloo, and Toronto.. Occasional travel between these locations may be required.
This role requires RCMP Reliability Status Clearance.
