What is the opportunity?

As an Associate Director, Senior Lead Developer at RBC Capital Markets in Toronto, this individual will spearhead a development team within the Client Banking Digital & Data Technology division. The role demands profound expertise in Java, caching technologies, multi-threading highly scalable applications , SQL Server, and Cloud technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the creation and implementation of cutting-edge banking applications that are cloud-compatible, ensuring scalability, reliability, and compliance with the latest technological standards.

What will you do?

  • Lead and mentor a team of developers in crafting software solutions that leverage cloud technologies for enhanced scalability and resilience.

  • Implement caching solutions with technologies like GridGain and MemSQL, and integrate these with cloud-based environments.

  • Develop and maintain Java-based applications, utilizing the Spring framework and cloud-native patterns.

  • Drive the adoption of cloud services and tools to improve development processes and application performance.

  • Stay current with cloud computing trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team's solutions remain cutting-edge.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into cloud-compatible software solutions.

  • Guide the team through the full software development lifecycle with a focus on Agile and DevOps practices

  • Ensure all developed applications meet strict security standards and comply with industry regulations.

  • Mentor and coach team members, encouraging their professional growth and adherence to best practices.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have

  • 12 years of designing and coding application programs; performing testing for developed applications.

  • Leadership experience with a track record of successfully managing development teams.

  • 12+ years of reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale system.

  • 12+ years years of ensuring the operating efficiency of existing application systems. Maintaining records for the documentation of systems development and revisions.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to perform well under tight deadlines.

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry, especially in areas related to client banking and digital technologies, is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Capital markets will be a big plus.
