Job Summary
Global Technology Services (GTS) is one of the foundational divisions of the TMX Group, that empowers internal TMX business lines for their technology needs, operations and digital innovation. GTS as a client centric organization focuses on building technology capabilities, enabling our clients with the best technology solutions and providing effective technology financial and resource management processes. The cost effective operation is a key attribute of the GTS execution. GTS is responsible for delivery of all technology initiatives and services across TMX.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of business applications and technical operational support for Clearing and Depository Services (CDS), including the core CDSX platform and its supporting applications.
This role reports into the Head of Technology - CDS in GTS and collaborates closely with Product and Operations Managers in CDS.
Key Accountabilities:
Partnering with industry participants, regulators, and stakeholders across the organization to translate business strategies/requirements and identify appropriate solutions to deliver on objectives related to Clearing and Depository Services (CDS).
Resolve highly complex, multi-faceted problems, which are often unstructured and without precedent to meet the business needs.
Engage in the entire lifecycle (vision, definition, planning, delivery and support), with primary ownership for planning, delivering and supporting new and existing business systems.
Manage application support activities to ensure that systems are available as per the SLAs and all deliverables for customers are met in a 24/7 environment.
Develop and validate application/solution architecture that is robust, scalable and efficient for the business units.
Define the service level agreements (SLA) and technical capability objectives (SLO) related to the application working in collaboration with business leaders.
Ensuring the system meets current and future capabilities that align with the business roadmap.
Partner with business owners to define the performance and volume metrics and ensure the systems are performing better than the targets.
Manage day-to-day support activities for business operations and help in improving their efficiency with optimal solutions.
Contribute to the technology designs, upgrades, and product assessments that support the organization needs.
Staying current with industry trends and technology advancements.
Must haves:
Demonstrated 10+ years professional experience in IT Management.
A university degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent program or experience.
Experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale business systems in cloud or on-premise, including the management of multiple teams consisting of development and support personnel.
Understanding of systems, business, data, and technical architecture disciplines, including key methodologies and approaches such as Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Business Process Management (BPM), and high-availability/high-performance systems design.
Experience and capability in translating non-technical user requests into complex technical specifications and solutions that meet business needs.
Business knowledge related the Capital Markets industry, specifically:
Clearing and Settlement
Corporate Actions processing
Risk Management
Collateral Management
Proven experience with:
Legacy (Mainframe) and distributed platforms (Web Technologies)
Middleware (MQ Series / webMethods)
Relational Databases (DB2 and Sybase)
SWIFT and ISO messaging standards
Demonstrated leadership and management experience, including ability to coach and develop a high-performing team.
Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into business & value-focused language.
Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams that drive projects from ideation to launch.
Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize competing demands in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, and to adapt quickly to manage changing priorities.
Nice to haves:
Experience working with Agile methodologies and understanding of Cloud Native, Web, and Continuous Delivery technologies.
Ability to think 'big picture', ensuring solutions are cohesive and evolutionary and do not compromise overall organizational efficiency and technical strategy.
