Here is what you will be doing:
The Advisor, Digital Content is responsible for collaborating with business partners and the broader communications team to review, edit and implement content on the Ontario Health website ensuring content is clear, concise, easy to understand and compliant with AODA standards.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Work closely with communications advisors and business partners to plan, create, edit and publish external facing web content ensuring content is consistent with Ontario Health's web governance standards and guidelines, follows best practices and is compliant with AODA and other relevant legislation.
Review, copyedit, and proofread web content
Champion clear-writing, making information easier to understand and use
Provide guidance and support to business partners, communications advisors and team members on digital content best practices including Ontario Heath web standards, style guide and AODA compliance.
Advise on content strategy and content development for new content including adapting complex print-based reports and clinical tools for digital publication.
Advocate for the user, in content, design and information architecture
Conduct and report results of periodic content audits as required
Subject matter expert for WCAG and AODA compliance and web writing best practices ensuring compliance to AODA, Ministry Directives and Ontario Health brand standards
Ensure content follows best practices for search engine optimization
Liaise with French Language Services Coordinator to ensure content is translated and posted on all French websites as required
Liaise with legal counsel with respect to AODA and other relevant legislation compliance, issues, and exceptions
Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Build and maintain relationships with business partners across multiple portfolios
Monitor and analyze the performance of website content and provide insights to optimize future content
Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment
Education and Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in healthcare marketing and online copywriting/editing. Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Technical Writing or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience writing for digital projects involving complex topics and repurposing content to tight deadlines.
Demonstrated understanding of the art and science of writing for the web.
Experience managing content and production for high traffic websites
Experience with content management systems and MS Office suite of product
Knowledge and Skills
Exceptional editorial skills, including writing accessible content for diverse audiences, proof-reading, and copy-editing, and creating editorial guidelines and documentation
Highly developed conflict resolution, project management, time management, organizational, inter-personal and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated advanced research and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within a cross-departmental team
Strong interpersonal skill including confidence to interact with stakeholders at all levels
Knowledge of AODA requirements and best practice
Ability to deal with multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Knowledge of SEO and best practices for digital content
Understanding of human-centered design and user experience testing is an asset
Technical knowledge of web development is an asset
