Please note: This posting is for a 4-month Student Summer 2025 placement with a start date of May 2025 and end-date of August 2025.

In order to be eligible for this 4-month Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2025; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in April/August 2025), but you require the work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

As an intern student on our team, you will be immersed in an environment that fosters creativity and a learning mindset.

Our interaction designers help to communicate our design intent in a way that delights yet informs our users to create intuitive interfaces. As a member of our team, you'll work within an agile environment and iterative process, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members and stakeholders to analyze, design and convey your design vision. A natural problem solver, communicator, and facilitator, you'll be involved in every step of the process from idea generation to implementation.

What will you do?

  • Employ user-centered design principles and techniques to optimize the client experience for new and existing RBC products and features
  • Design artifacts of high complexity to communicate task flows, touchpoints, behaviors, and the exchange of information
  • Create complex low-fidelity sketches, wireframes, and prototypes to explore, communicate, and validate ideas.
  • Create complex prototypes to provide delivery specifications for development
  • Participate in usability testing and research activities
  • Collaborate with your core design team, project managers, developers, and business stakeholders

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Enrollment in a post-secondary institution (university or college) in a degree program related to design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Exposure to designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms
  • Exposure to applied research settings including experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices
  • Ability to articulate design strategy, rational and logic; describing benefits and highlighting risks associated with design decision
  • Portfolio that includes case studies where you walk through the problem you were solving and the process you used to come to a solution
