YOUR IMPACT

This is a central role within our data team, designing solutions to meet the needs across Analytics, Operation Data Management, Master Data Management and some elements of Data migrations.

We currently have a broad range of solutions and technologies and are embarking on a journey to rationalise and improve that landscape landing on a single platform. Your role will be to create the designs (along with others within the team) to meet that need. we have some clear ambitions as to how we achieve that and how we use good architectural ideas to improve our overall output as a department. Although we have a broad range of technologies, we are looking to consolidate onto a new platform built on Microsoft Fabric leveraging a metadata driven design approach, knowledge and experience of both will be key.

The focus is on the solutions that the data and analytics team uses to provide its services rather than a broader Enterprise data architecture role

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS

  • Administration and support of the Operational and Analytical data systems
  • Configuration changes to the data systems platforms
  • support active user base with data tooling
  • Experience in Microsoft Fabric, Informatica, MS Sql Server
  • Able to apply Hot Fixes and perform upgrades as and when necessary
  • Understanding and troubleshooting the data toolset
  • Understand the data tooling landscape and which solution is the best fit for which tasks
  • Working with IT to understand and follow the Change and deployment process
  • Own the overall design of the Micro Focus Data Solution Architecture
    • Create and maintain the overall Architectural picture
    • Assess any new additions or changes
    • Ensure that it is in line with the company's overall Enterprise Architecture strategy
  • Technical lead for Existing and new Data Solutions.
    • Accountable for the overall design of new data systems
    • Ensure that new solutions add to the whole in line with the enterprise view
    • Provides full transition support into production for successfully proven capabilities
    • Will provide architectural oversight for products in development and production
  • Defines and monitors best practice on the usage of current and strategic technology solutions in operation
  • Act as the interface into the Enterprise Architecture team
  • Translates business requirements into functional and technical specifications and design documents
  • Research and evaluate software technology, products, and solutions, and make recommendations on technology/production introduction, phase out, and retirement

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric - or similar
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing metadata driven framework and dynamic SQL
  • Strong technology background with particular focus on Data Warehouse, Analytics, MDM and Data Integration
  • Ability to simplify & standardise complex concepts / processes
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced change environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable setting out a course of activity with imperfect information and driving hard with limited resources.
  • Working knowledge, practical experience or skills in following technology areas:
    • Data Migration
    • Data integration technologies
    • Database technology
    • Business Intelligence/ reporting technologies
  • Experience creating and reviewing detailed solution architectures and associated design documentation based on functional and technical requirements
  • Skill and experience in running technology benchmarking exercises or product selections
  • Focus on delivering simple and efficient solutions
  • Project management or team leading beneficial
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
