JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Project & Control Engineer/Officer.

Reporting to the Manager, Integrated Planning and Control, this position is primarily responsible for the Business Planning & Development group within Advanced Inspection and Maintenance (AIM). AIM is a division of technical experts who apply specialized inspection, maintenance, and engineering knowledge and experience that others rely on to maximize the lifecycle performance of equipment and components.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support the administration of highly utilized Project Management Information Systems, including Primavera P6 and Power Bi.
  • Preparing critical path schedules and dashboard reporting for work management during outages
  • Perform weekly cost and schedule analysis and weekly schedule updates; facilitate project metrics reporting and variance analysis; identify actual and potential deviations from the approved annual, release or life cycle budgets or schedules to the Project Manager
  • Ensure approved change control processes are followed; provide timely updates or project cost and schedule updates/changes when approved; maintain project baseline integrity; maintain accurate historical project performance throughout change control process
  • Interface with all stakeholders to ensure work plans are accurately updated and maintained; interface with Finance to ensure financial systems reflect work plan and are aligned with project controls system; interface with station work control for execution of field work; obtain cost and schedule status and forecasts from resource providers
  • Facilitate and support Business Plan process; final reconciliation and finalize/close out project controls and source systems
  • Assist with continuous improvement of PMO processes and procedures; assist in the development and continuous improvement of the project controls information systems; maintain document project file to provide auditable trail
  • Supporting refurbishment projects and Renewable Generation work

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 year Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Business (Project Management Institute (PMI) or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) certification is considered an asset)
  • Minimum 6 year's experience collaborating within a work group and performing all aspects of project monitoring and controlling (ideally within a Nuclear, Hydroelectric, or Thermal generating facility)
  • Experience with Primavera P6; Power BI experience would be a strong asset
  • Experience in cost control (understanding of earned value including CPI (cost performance indicator) and SPI (scheduled performance indicator))
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary and multi-phase long term projects/programs; knowledge and solid understanding of interrelationships between work groups and organizational units, work groups, external contractors and vendors, and the mechanics of resolving controversial issues; ability to collaborate and communicate (both written and verbally)
  • Experience with the application of work methods, resourcing of work, and logical sequencing of events and resolution of common problems in these areas
  • Experience with the development and operation of various computerized systems and databases
  • Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the Province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
