JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of a Cyber Security Specialist. Reporting to the Section Head Information Systems, this position is responsible to protecting operational technologies and working in critical infrastructure.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide technical leadership and cybersecurity expertise for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) environments
  • Understand and apply cyber security standards and industry best practice to the cyber security program to identify areas for improvement, collaborating with stakeholders to implement changes.
  • Apply knowledge of OPG's OT network and system design to assess attack surfaces and evaluate risk, ensuring effective threat management and security posture.
  • Develop and maintain playbooks and procedures for Cybersecurity Operations, continuously optimizing processes with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, IT, Helpdesk, and other teams to improve detection, response, and incident management.
  • Support compliance activities, including assisting with audits, conducting firewall reviews, advising on regulatory compliance, and ensuring that security policies and standards are followed throughout the organization.
  • Develop and maintain OPG's cyber security governance, process, and procedure documents to ensure a strong cyber security culture and posture.
  • Stay informed on emerging cybersecurity threats and collaborate with internal and external teams to provide actionable threat intelligence, enhancing OPG's security measures based on evolving tactics and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4 Year Bachelor's Degree
  • 6-8 years experience in a similar role
  • Experience with cyber security for Industrial Control System (ICS) and OT environments including control network designs, familiarity with OT network protocols, and OT technology.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, including incident response, vulnerability management, threat analysis, network security, and application security, with the ability to apply this knowledge to OPG's specific infrastructure and business needs.
  • Experience in performing OT security maturity assessments such as C2M2 and NIST.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining cybersecurity playbooks and standard operating procedures to support continuous improvement in threat detection, response, and incident management, ensuring alignment with best practices and organizational goals.
  • In-depth understanding of risk management frameworks, threat assessments, and regulatory compliance requirements, including the ability to collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure adherence to industry standards and legal regulations.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including IT, cybersecurity, engineering, maintenance, operations, and business teams, to drive remediation efforts, share actionable threat intelligence, and ensure the effective implementation of security controls.

This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This position will be temporarily based in Pickering, ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
