Our System Modeling team architects, develops, and maintains the Telesat Lightspeed System Model application, a state-of-the-art engineering software tool running on high performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for the modeling of resource allocation, and evaluating end-to-end system performance of the Telesat Lightspeed satellite constellation.
As Scrum Master, the successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating all Scrum activities, removing roadblocks, and promoting effective communication and collaboration with adjacent integration and testing teams. The Scrum Master will be responsible for coaching team members on agile methodology within the scrum framework, increasing the capacity for the teams to self-organize. The Scrum master will engage in technical relationships with other teams within Telesat and contribute to the Scrum of Scrums, following SAFe, as a key member to help provide status updates and define dependencies.
Main Responsibilities
Support the development and testing of the System Model, to improve its fitness as an operational production engine for business applications and engineering design running on an HPC infrastructure, within the MATLAB development environment
Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
Coach team members in Agile methodologies and guide the teams to be more self-organizing
Lead iteration and reflection on Agile practices used
Collaborate with the product owner to prioritize and manage the product backlog, ensuring that it is well-defined, organized, and achievable
Have a technical understanding of the existing modeling capabilities to preemptively identify development interdependencies
Resolve conflicts and remove obstacles both within and outside of the team
Provide statistics on team velocity, identify and mitigate inefficiencies
Education and Experience Required
5+ years as Scrum Master for software development teams strongly desired
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, or a related field
Scrum Master certification (CSM or PSM) is strongly desired
Extensive understanding of Agile for software development, including Scrum and SAFe
Extensive understanding of Software Development Lifecycle methodologies
Prior Matlab development experience is strongly desired
Experience in system design and modeling roles is desired
Knowledge of radio communication systems and/or satellite communication is desirable

Fluent in English, written and oral. French is an asset
