This position is with the Rail Construction Program. The mandate of the Rail Construction Program is to transform, develop, grow and sustain Ottawa's Light Rail Transit Systems as a component of the City of Ottawa's overall transportation and mobility strategy.
You are responsible for: the day-to-day delivery of the city's rail operational technology infrastructure (OTI), which are being expanded to support the city's expanding Stage 2 rail operations. This involves architecting networks, cybersecurity, and implementing assigned operational technology infrastructure solutions to meet client requirements, and/or to improve City rail operations. In addition, this role involves functional supervision to relevant internal technical staff (e.g. Test and Commissioning staff, project coordinators, and co-op students), of functional supervision external consultants/contractors (including the review of applicable Construction Consortium documentation, implementation, and testing), and management of infrastructure vendors (including specification development, proposal reviews, design reviews, integration coordination, implementation management, and testing and commissioning).
The city's Rail OTI is medium-scale and highly complex (e.g. multiple segregated networks, 40+ servers; 40+ stations located across 28,000 square kilometres; and provides critical technological infrastructure for transit users. The city's OTI must also support the day-to-day operations of critical public facing Transit Services. In addition, the city's OTI needs to securely integrate and enable data-sharing with other functional internal networks.
The Rail OTI utilizes two primary network OEMs for the core and security aspects surrounding the network infrastructure; however, the position involves the integration of third party equipment and devices from a variety of OEMs.
The position requires on site presence at 875 Belfast Road from 2-5 days per week depending on project needs, and overtime is expected at times due to the 24/7 nature of the rail infrastructure this project integrates with.
