Modern Niagara is seeking a Network Specialist to join our Ottawa based IT Infrastructure team!

As the Network Specialist, you will play a key role in our team. Reporting to the Director of Information Security and Systems, you will ensure the stability, security, and performance of our critical networks. This includes providing second-level network support, troubleshooting advanced network issues, performing proactive maintenance, and documenting network activities. You will also participate in the implementation, support, tuning, and management of enterprise-wide networks and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain backend servers and network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
  • Continuously monitor network performance, proactively address issues, and conduct tuning to align with service agreements.
  • Implement and manage security measures to protect network and server environments.
  • Analyze, configure, and resolve network-related issues to ensure network responsiveness, efficiency, and stability.
  • Provide third-level support, perform incident diagnosis and root cause analysis on system performance issues.
  • Stay current with evolving network technologies, best practices, security threats, and protection mechanisms.
  • Prepare and maintain various technical documents and records; effectively communicate technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional IT experience, with expertise in network infrastructure and security.
  • Post secondary diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent training and hands-on experience.
  • Security or network certifications such as Network+, CSAT, Security+, CCNA are a strong asset
  • In-depth knowledge of network technologies and standards, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, encryption, routing protocols, high availability protocols, and virtualization technologies.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot complex network issues, perform testing, and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Strong scripting skills with PowerShell.
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP network protocols.
  • Understanding of ID protection, ID management, and SSO management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
