JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, Systems Programs, is responsible for managing a cross section of information technology applications, systems Integration and website development projects and for client engagement through the project lifecycle, including application of project governance and evaluation of business outcomes.

The Manager, Systems Programs works closely with the Director, Planning and Programs as well as stakeholders at all levels across the organization in building business cases for major initiatives, understanding requirements, translating them into project plans to develop new or support existing IT programs. This position is also responsible for monitoring and reporting progress of multiple projects and sub-projects and constantly assessing scope, risk, timelines and quality of deliverables with a view to ensure that technology projects are executed as planned and deliver the required business outcomes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project planning and execution including defining projects, scope, timelines, requirements

  • Lead front line client engagement to evaluate the project need as it relates to the organization's strategic direction and specific objectives

  • Engage with front line stakeholders to identify business requirements, providing leadership in the evaluation and rationalization of requirements through solutioning

  • Ensure projects are established and managed as part of programs that will maximize return on investment with a focus on business outcomes

  • Establish controls and standardized governance for projects, providing leadership for program governance following implementation

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, organizing cross-project work with other project and program leaders in all areas of the business

  • Monitor business benefits and outcomes to ensure alignment to the organization's strategic goals and objectives

  • Ensure that projects are executed with privacy by design in support of overall program initiatives

  • Define and assign internal and external resources to projects

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders within IT and across the organization with respect to security, integrated systems and other areas of potential impact as key considerations

  • Create Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals, developing and managing contracts in collaboration with Legal and Procurement teams

  • Create of Project Charters, Schedules, Risk and Issue Logs and other documentation

  • Manage project scope, change requests, and budgets

  • Develop project portfolio dashboards and metrics

  • Clearly and succinctly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Guide and influence decision making of stakeholders at all levels, making recommendations and negotiating the appropriate course of action

  • Lead project team and stakeholders by influence without positional authority

  • Lead team members seconded to projects, as required

  • Manage all facets of vendor engagement and performance

  • Negotiate with stakeholders on time and resources amongst competing priorities

  • Report to Steering Committees and other stakeholders on objectives, goals, progress, and risks

  • Develop best practices around project and program management and make recommendations for continual improvement

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent leadership, negotiation and facilitation skills

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal direction

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to effectively work with multiple levels of the organization

  • Expert in Microsoft Project and other project management software

  • Proactive, organized, priority focused and results oriented

  • Solution oriented and innovative while respecting change management discipline

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail

  • In-depth understanding of Cloud offerings particularly Google Cloud, Microsoft Cloud and future trajectory of Cloud evolution

  • Working knowledge of database concepts and ERP file structures

  • Communicates effectively in writing and orally

  • Aptitude for understanding the business environment and translating business requirements to technical solutions

  • Interpersonal capabilities to supervise others and ensure positive relationship building

  • Well-developed team skills and a collaborative work style

  • Strong work ethic supported by solid time management skills

This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Hydro Ottawa offers a Hybrid Work Model. Hybrid work is position specific, the details of which the hybrid model will be discussed with successful candidates.

Pay Range Minimum:

$92,583.24

Pay Range Maximum:

$138,902.12

This position is eligible for variable pay
