JOB SUMMARY

The Manager, IT and Cloud Infrastructure Services is responsible for ensuring the streamlined and efficient operation of the network and cloud infrastructure, data centre, technical and client services functions of IT, in alignment with the business objectives of Hydro Ottawa and its affiliates. The Manager, IT and Cloud Infrastructure Services develops and executes a forward-looking strategic plan for IT infrastructure, driving innovation and ensures that the IT infrastructure supports and enhances business capabilities. The Manager, IT and Cloud Infrastructure Services plans, coordinates, directs, and reports on IT infrastructure-related activities, provides direction, supervision and support for daily operational activities of the IT team, as well as measures and reports on success through key performance indicators.

The Manager, IT and Cloud Infrastructure Services is also responsible for the highest quality of customer service and technical support for hardware and software (acquisition, deployment, management and replacement) and collaborates with customers, stakeholders, partners and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions that meet the business needs. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization's architectural standards. The Manager, IT and Cloud Infrastructure Services also manages budgets and ensures that capital and operational expenditures are managed appropriately and forecasted for both tactical and strategic outlook.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to the development of strategic plans and facilitates the tactical deployment of such plans.

  • Contributes to the strategic management of a technology and architecture framework for Hydro Ottawa and its affiliates.

  • Leads operational and strategic planning related to the IT infrastructure, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.

  • Leads system and strategic initiatives within area of responsibility including network infrastructure, operating technology network (OTN), data centre and client services.

  • Oversees the planning and execution of programs for replacing hardware and renewing software licences, managing related budgets for both IT and OT infrastructure

  • Develops standards, policies and procedures as required to support the enterprise and researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and best practices in technical and computing infrastructure.

  • Provides an enterprise-wide perspective and input into IT decisions.

  • Oversees the management of business and grid networks.

  • Understands and aligns with cybersecurity and ITIL best practices

  • Responsible for stable and ongoing operations of a reliable and secure network and client services areas of the IT organization including on premise systems and cloud infrastructure.

  • Identify operational requirements and establish appropriate measures to monitor system performance.

  • Oversee the management of all IT related internal systems and optimize their operations through active management.

  • Oversee the management of IT cloud infrastructure including engagements with AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including service desk and technical support services.

  • Responsible for overall development and ongoing maintenance of HO disaster recovery plan as it relates to mission critical systems.

  • Acts as a technical architect (servers, storage, network and applications).

  • Develop contracts and relationships with vendors.

  • Liaise and maintain appropriate relationships with customers and supplier stakeholders.

  • Monitor and control the process of acquiring and replacing equipment to ensure it adheres to the terms of agreements signed with suppliers and quality standards.

  • Develop and support introduction of Service Level Agreements.

  • Works on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments.

  • Ensures the quality of service provided to customers and conducts assessment whenever necessary.

  • Manages the process for handling acquisition requests to ensure the optimal use of the hardware and software in place.

  • Manage a team of resources and professionals including employees and consultants Manage an ecosystem of partners to support IT infrastructure

  • Coach and mentor staff and ensure their development.

  • Oversee financial management of the IT infrastructure, including procurement of technology and services, monitoring budgets, and ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 7 years of IT infrastructure management and business/industry work experience.

  • Minimum 5 years managerial experience in a similar role

  • Extensive experience with network architecture, telecommunication systems, Cloud Infrastructure (Iaas) and IT service management.

  • Proven track record of managing and optimizing IT operations, including service desk, technical support services, and disaster recovery planning.

  • Strong experience in budget management, financial planning, and procurement processes related to IT infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of networks; certifications considered an asset.

  • ITIL Certification (minimum ITIL Foundation)

  • In-depth knowledge of emerging technologies and best practices in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity.

  • Strong project management skills with experience leading complex projects across multiple technical areas and business segments.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

  • English language essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (French/English) considered an asset

This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Hydro Ottawa offers a Hybrid Work Model. Hybrid work is position specific, the details of which the hybrid model will be discussed with successful candidates.

$100,989.68

Pay Range Maximum:

$151,539.70
