JOB SUMMARY

The Major Gifts and Partnerships unit is responsible for fostering and enhancing relationships with current and potential supporters across the Ottawa region and beyond, including individuals, corporations, and foundations, to grow private funding and donations from major gifts (individual) and corporate partners in support and alignment with Ottawa Public Library`s mission, vision, and strategic needs. The unit develops fundraising strategies, optimizes financial support, increases the visibility of OPL with various target markets, and oversees the creation and production of solicitation (e.g. marketing) tools for campaign initiatives, corporate philanthropic giving and individual philanthropic giving.

You are responsible for providing expert communications and marketing advice to support the planning, development and implementation of communication, marketing and solicitation activities to secure financial contributions for both operational and capital initiatives of the Ottawa Public Library (OPL).

You are also responsible for event conception, coordination and execution of strategic fundraising activities. You write, edit and design fundraising related communications products (including advertising, solicitation, marketing and promotions) and materials for various stakeholders and audiences to support achievement of the $15M target. You participate in the selection of external agencies (e.g. graphic design) and manage related work assignments, and lead communications related to the Ottawa Public Library (OPL) and Library and Archives Canada (LAC) joint facility project, representing OPL on the tripartite Joint Communications Working Group.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 4 year university degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing/Advertising, or a related field

Minimum of 5 years of related experience in Marketing and Communications for fundraising initiatives.
