About this opportunity

Our Innovate Graduate Technology Program will give you an outstanding opportunity to understand and take part in shaping our technology leadership and is the perfect fit for you who have a diligent, innovative, and creative approach. This Innovate role is part of an 18-month rotation program and will include a six-month international rotation, likely in Sweden.

The program will give you a chance to work with like-minded people who are pioneers in our business and advanced problem solvers in their chosen field. You'll collaborate with them to solve some of the most challenging issues faced by our customers to ensure everyone worldwide is connected. Your journey within the Innovate Program will start as System Design Lead.

About PEU Radio

Product Engineering Unit Radio (PEU Radio) drives the end-to-end research and development of Ericsson's radio products and solutions. We are a global organization, within Engineering Unit Hardware (EU HW) of engineers and developers collaborating across sites to drive Ericsson's strategy of securing our ongoing market leadership in radio, taking a leadership position in 5G and beyond.

About Radio Products Canada

Radio Products Canada drives end-to-end radio product development for the site to enable efficient WoW and shorten TTM.

About this role

Reporting to the Head of Product Systems and Integration within Radio Products Canada, the System Design Lead is responsible for driving excellence in product system design to secure optimal architecture of new products through modularization and reuse, enabling product quality and timely delivery. The role will have a primary focus on interfacing into the Design, Supply/NPI and Product Area organizations for new product introduction to achieve overall improved development speed through closer collaboration, improved management of dependencies and introduction of optimal flows. The role actively secures and measures quality during development of products, securing adherence to the PEU Radio Quality framework.

The position is based in Ottawa and may require travel to other PEU Radio sites. We welcome the opportunity to meet you!

What you will do

  • Drive design for quality and industrialization
  • Ensure excellent collaboration with other design groups, Supply NPI and Sourcing, Customer units and Product Area Networks
  • Drive towards quality and efficiency in system design, identify waste in the flow and propose solutions
  • Provide development estimates/scenarios working close with the Design Architects
  • Act as task force driver to ensure fast response from Product System design on critical escalations
  • Act as mentor in certain areas upon requirement
  • Is an active contributor within the Leadership Team

You will bring

  • Sound knowledge and proven experience in Radio System Design and Architecture
  • Strong leadership skills in line with Ericsson core values and leadership framework
  • Sound experience leading products and technology
  • Excellent skills in communication and in handling relations with genuine interest in people
  • Result oriented with a strong product development background
  • Solid experience of leading a multitude of interfaces
  • Interest and good understanding of the concepts of Lean and Agile ways of working
  • Technology and portfolio understanding
  • Ability to work and cooperate across organizational boundaries
  • Large degree of flexibility and willingness to take on different tasks.
  • Find it stimulating to work with change management and teamwork/cooperation across the organizations.
  • Excellent English skills in both writing and conversation is a must
  • Bachelors' University level education

  • Ability to develop strategies and prioritize activities
  • A global attitude and willingness to relocate internationally
  • Interest in experimentation and innovation with the ability to think creatively and be well adapted to change
  • Solid networking, collaboration and communication skills and proficiency in English
