This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This new space will enable teamwork, collaboration and innovation that will help us to achieve our mission to electrify life in one generation. This position will be temporarily based in 700 University Ave, Toronto, ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.


JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager Security Architecture.

Reporting to the Director - Cyber and IT Security, this position is accountable for delivery of high quality and reliable Security Architecture services at the lowest possible cost and providing Information Security consulting, advice and assistance to OPG business groups regarding all matters related to the secure management of systems, cloud and information.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Have a clear and thorough understanding of OPG’s business functions, processes and security strategy as well as information management priorities.
  • Provide leadership for the development of the security strategy and contribute to the delivery of critical cyber security projects across Cloud, IT and OT to improve overall security capabilities, maturity, and risk posture.
  • Create a framework for security architecture artifacts (e.g., patterns, models, templates, standards, workflows) to be adopted into corporate projects, strategic initiatives and business operations.
  • Lead the development of security roadmaps with a methodology for all of Cyber Security and instrument a comprehensive control framework of all security capabilities with a technology roadmap.
  • Perform security architectural review and control gap assessments against services, processes and technologies to assist in maturing the overall cyber security architecture practice.
  • Ensure alignment of OPG’s security architecture with recent research, developments and innovations in the threat landscape and in technology offerings.
  • Lead a group of skilled security architects and security analysts and offer expert guidance, coaching and team cohesion to maximize the impact of the team on all engagements.
  • Be the strategic interface for the business client groups represented, for resolution of security architecture issues with both internal and external stakeholders across the Cloud, IT and OT domains.
  • Support the development of security architecture strategies to meet changing business objectives while maximizing the efficiency and effectiveness of information technology within the business groups.
  • Facilitate the identification and screening of business needs/outcomes and/or solutions and determine if capabilities can be delivered through a base initiative, project or if a non-technical solution (i.e. status quo, business processes change, etc.) would meet business objectives.
  • Support the approval process for IT Projects and provide technical input in preparation of requirements and business cases as required.
  • Facilitate the IT decision making & prioritizing process by participating in OPG's LOB Management Team Meetings and/or other LOB forums.
  • Other duties as required.

EDUCATION

  • 4 years of University degree in an appropriate field such as Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline.

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires a minimum of 8-10 years' experience in a security role.
  • Requires an advanced knowledge of engineering, computer sciences and cybersecurity, including in-depth understanding of security best practices, risks and technologies, and the solutions to address those risks.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of technology fundamentals across Cloud, Infrastructure, Applications and Networks, typically gained through security training organizations and by holding certifications such as CISSP, SABSA, TOGAF, SANS and Cloud certifications.
  • An exemplary ability to communicate complex approaches and initiatives to a wide audience of stakeholders is required for this position, both verbally and through presentations and in written products.
  • Background as a security architect in some or more technology areas (cloud, network, identity, storage, backup, server, middleware, web/application, mobile).
  • Proven experience in security architecture practices, processes, frameworks and strategic security planning.
  • Knowledge of industry security standards and regulations (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, NERC CIP, CSA N290).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within IT or OT Security or in a related field or industry.
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills with an ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to independently research and develop novel approaches in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • A solid understanding of the fundamentals of technology used in both the enterprise with IT and in industrial environments with OT.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
