The Central Agencies I&IT Cluster, Treasury Board Secretariat, is looking for an experienced individual to join their team, where you will provide systems development, programming and consulting expertise to clients, related to the use of information technology, to meet business and program goals.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
• develop applications and coordinate development activities to meet the clients' analytical and end-user computing needs
• provide technical expertise in complex systems analysis and design processes
• assess information technology and data/systems requirements of clients
• provide advice/expertise in acquisition of software, hardware, and technology


Please note: This position requires you to be on-call and to work weekends.

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge:

You have:
• knowledge of, and experience in, the theory/principles of systems analysis, design and development, along with database management systems
• knowledge of, and experience in, programming using client server and/or micro computing and/or internet/intranet computer system technologies (e.g. ETL, DataStage, Cognos, using a variety of languages and database technologies (e.g. DB2, Oracle) in a Windows environment
• the ability to identify, document and evaluate technical options and developing system & application program specifications

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

You can:
• make recommendations on the acquisition of applications, software, hardware and information technology services
• assess information and systems needs of clients, and assist in the development of improved, cost-effective solutions
• design alternatives based on business/client needs and provide recommendations on appropriate hardware and software configuration

Knowledge:

You have:
• knowledge of emerging technologies, e.g. analytics, to identify and evaluate information technology options, and modify and develop new systems
• knowledge of systems development methodologies/techniques, architecture/technology trends, and office/development products
• knowledge of system technologies (such as operating systems, custom application software, packaged applications, and client customized software and networks), and the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of Cluster technology platforms
• the ability to understand Cluster administrative policies and directives to ensure compliance of recommendations on acquisition of technology and services, and negotiation of contracts

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

You have:
• the ability to contribute to, and lead, the discussions of systems development options and technical processes with the project team
• you can effectively discuss systems development recommendations with clients and communicate advantages and disadvantages of various options and their impact on service delivery

Research Skills:

You can maintain current knowledge of trends and advances in IT across various computing platforms, including configuration and/or new development, analysis and design techniques.
