Emerging Tech and AI team at Canadian Tire is dedicated to driving innovation and leveraging cutting-edge advancements to solve complex business challenges. Our Team is seeking a talented and passionate AI Engineer to join our dynamic team.

As an AI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge artificial intelligence solutions that drive innovation and business growth. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems using AI algorithms, Machine learning algorithms, deep learning models, and other AI techniques. This role requires a strong background in computer science, mathematics, and programming skills, along with a passion for advancing the field of artificial intelligence.

  • Lead the building, scaling, optimization, production deployment & maintenance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities, solutions, and systems to solve complex business problems.
  • Conduct experiments and evaluate the effectiveness of different AI approaches.
  • Creating and managing the AI development process and overall infrastructure for scaling and performance.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate AI models into production systems.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide AI solutions accordingly.
  • Optimize and fine-tune AI algorithms for performance and accuracy.
  • Enable repeatable patterns for enablement and automation of enabling measurement, explainability and ethical AI considerations into the development infrastructure and processes.
  • Document technical specifications, processes, and findings related to AI projects.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning research.

What you bring

  • Degree in AI, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master's preferred.
  • 3+ years experience in developing and deploying optimized machine learning models/solutions at scale in cloud environments. Familiarity & relevant certifications with Azure, OpenAI, Open Source Implementations, Databricks & MLFlow preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java.
  • Solid understanding of AI Solutions, machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and deep learning techniques.
  • Experience solving business problems using AI solutions.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using SQL and other data processing tools.
  • Experience in optimizing model accuracy and runtime performance.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices, version control systems (e.g., Git), and Agile methodologies.
  • Embrace best practices & processes related to LLMOps, Gen AI, automation, coding standard methodologies for the broader data science and engineering teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
