Job Description:

Role Summary:

The Corporate Applications Services (CAS) IT team is looking for a SAP SAC Senior Engineer (Focus on SAC, Datasphere and BW4HANA) with strong design and development skills in SAC to become a member of the SAP CoE (Centre of Excellence) Sunlife organization.

This role leads the implementation of reporting analytics solutions focused on managing data integrity, aggregating, reconciling and integrating data from multiple data sources (SAP and Non SAP) into a global consolidated SAP (SAC) reporting platform with Industry Best Practices to enable informed decision making capabilities.

The candidate should have a strong business acumen and understanding of finance business processes and proven track record in designing and developing complex SAP SAC solutions for global organizations.

In addition to an analytical and data-driven mind-set, the position requires responsibilities in support functions, interaction with a diverse business community and the need to resolve business critical issues promptly in a challenging and dynamic environment.

This role should have proven capability of working with business stakeholders independently to drive adoption of SAC and Datasphere, for maximizing the value contribution of SAC investment.

What will you do:

  • Work closely with business teams to understand and define reporting requirements, recommend SAP technical solutions to meet their needs.
  • As a senior SAC engineer, candidate should be able to lead blueprinting sessions and drive design sessions independently.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, design expertise and engagement for SAP data and analytics solutions.
  • Deliver full life-cycle SAP Analytics solutions (including prepare, high level design, detailed design, build, test, deploy and support phases) in Business Intelligence (BI) using SAP Datasphere, SAP HANA, SAP BW/4HANA, CDS Views, and SAC platforms.
  • Design & solution development of complex reporting solutions and dashboards using SAP Analytics on Cloud.
  • Provide best practice advise for Analysis for Office (AFO) tool and SAC Dashboards.
  • Responsible for performance tuning of SAC dashboards utilizing best practices.
  • Day to Day responsibilities include managing existing production BW/SAP SAC systems by liaising with the Business teams and the analytics team to solve analytics-related problems.
  • Should be able to drive the implementation with development capabilities in SAP Analytics & Reporting tools such as SAP BW4HANA, SAP SAC.
  • Vast hands-on experience in configuring calculations in SAC and doing debug for performance optimization.
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of analytics projects within the financial services sector, focusing on banking and life insurance.
  • Provide expertise on SAC security setup and enforces SOX controls and governance standards & processes.
  • Data management by data tiering, partitioning, archiving, deep understanding of NSE.
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting of BW/4 systems' health on the application level (process chains, aDSOs, system processes, S/4 integration);
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting of SAP BW/4 Integration (with 3rd party systems) jobs via Autosys.
  • Prompt escalation of the application incidents to the next line of support if unable to resolve by themselves.
  • Immediate escalation of the infrastructure incidents to the company's Cloud Provider.
  • Collaboration with other support teams to have the incidents resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that the end-users are fully aware of their incidents' statuses and resolution ETAs.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training or work experience;
  • 5+ years of experience with designing and developing SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) dashboards, build best practices guidelines for SAC.
  • 7+ years of Hands On SAP BW4HANA experience in design, development, implementation and support experience.
  • Implementation/Migration experience of moving SAP BW4HANA to the SAP Datasphere.
  • Extensive experience in implementing SAP Analytics solutions including data modeling using CDS views, calculation views (graphical and scripted) as well as virtual data models, HANA data provisioning and HANA security.
  • A minimum of 2 large scale SAC adoption projects.
  • Good understanding of architecture of SAC-Planning and integration with SAP BW/4HANA and S/4HANA
  • Proficient with SAP system architecture, design and performance optimization.
  • Experience in Reporting tools such as Analysis for Office.
  • Experience in connecting to other non-SAP systems in SAC and merge with SAP data to build unified view of datasets.
  • Experience in design and development of Composite Providers, InfoCubes, InfoSources, DataStore Objects (DSO), Transformations, CDS Views and Data Transfer Process (DTPs).
  • Solid understanding of BW HANA Security Model and SAC security Models.
  • Understanding of workspaces, dataflows in Datasphere. Ability to build and design data models in Datasphere.
  • Experience with data acquisition from SAP and Non-SAP source into Datasphere and data distribution to other non-SAP systems from Datasphere.
  • Solid Understanding of SAP S/4 Financials Master and Transactional data flows.
  • Good understanding of SOX controls/Segregation of Duties.
  • On-call rotation applies for production support related work.

Other relevant assets:

  • Exposure to other reporting tools like Tableau, BOBJ.
  • Experience working with scheduling software (Autosys);
  • Experience working with geographically distributed users and teams.
  • Strong ability to work independently with a bias toward action and results
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess situations/problems systematically and deliver effective right-sized solutions in a timely manner
  • Excellent organizing, planning and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to learn quickly and ramp up on new technologies, systems and business concepts
  • Outstanding customer service attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Notes / unique requirements:

  • Occasional work outside of normal business hours as part of a global team
  • Occasional weekend work in support of project delivery and implementations
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on work assignments
  • As a condition of the role, the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life in advance of the start date

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
