Job Description:

Role Summary:

We're seeking an experienced and passionate Senior DevOps Engineer to help transform our global contact centre technology. In this role, you will be at the forefront of implementing cloud capabilities and GenAI solutions across our operations in Canada, Asia, and the US.

As a key player in our innovation team, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of customer experience and operational excellence. Your expertise will be instrumental in crafting scalable, resilient systems that leverage cutting-edge technologies to redefine how we serve our clients.

What you will do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of DevOps practices and fully automated CI/CD pipelines

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve software quality and release frequency

  • Design and maintain automated build, test, and deployment processes

  • Support and coach engineers on DevOps tools and practices aligned with Sun Life's standards and policies

  • Ensure security standards are integrated into all solutions

  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues related to DevOps pipelines

  • Review and analyze organizational needs and goals to determine future impacts to applications and systems

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and their potential use at Sun Life

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a relevant field

  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience with full application development lifecycle

  • Excellent communication skills, able to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to assess alternatives, risks, and benefits

  • A passion for continuous improvement and innovation

  • Strong DevOps background with a focus on security and automation

  • Hands-on experience with:

Hands-on experience with:

  • Build and orchestration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Artifactory)
  • Source code management tools (e.g. Bitbucket, Git, Azure DevOps Server)
  • Automated deployment tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef)
  • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS)
  • Cloud platforms and services (AWS preferred)
  • Scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell, Groovy)
  • Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Packer)
  • Security and Code Quality tools (e.g. SonarQube, Checkmarx One, Snyk)
  • Java, Lambda functions, and APIs
  • Monitoring Tools (e.g., Datadog, Amazon CloudWatch, Amazon Guard Duty)

Ideal Candidate will also have:

  • Contact centre experience with Amazon Connect or other CCaaS platforms

  • Knowledge of financial and insurance industries

As a condition of the role, the successful candidate must obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life in advance of the start date

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
