Summary of the Role
RVA is seeking an Associate Vice President to manage a diverse IT team by overseeing, recruiting, and training employees with a goal to provide excellent service to internal and external stakeholders.
RVA has a complex software environment with many specialized engineering tools. The AVP must stay on top of client needs and negotiate cost effective plans to provide needed software while ensuring maximum return on investments. They must be skilled at communicating with various stakeholders and providing assistance with the preparation of business cases.
The IT budget is one of the largest overhead costs in the Company. Preparation of an annual budget, monthly reporting on progress and ability to adhere to plans is key to keeping costs under control. The AVP is expected to work directly with Senior Management to keep them advised of budget status.
Cyber Security is an existential threat to the Company. The AVP is responsible for the protection of all RVAs systems while balancing operability of tools and costs. The AVP must stay on top of the changing security environment, report monthly to Senior Management on the status of cyber defenses including ongoing training and prepare a NIST framework screening annually.
Information Technology is changing at a rapid pace and the AVP must be up to date on all aspects, including AI and how it will impact all parts of Operations. The AVP will be expected to provide input to Senior Management for strategic planning and to identify new technologies and opportunities to improve systems and processes.
The AVP will prepare annual reporting for the CEO/President to report to the RVA Board of Directors. The AVP may be asked to present on specific issues at the Board level and to provide input or develop IT related Company Policies and Standard Operating Practices.
RVA has a number of in-house developed, cloud based, workflow and information management tools and continues to build on the installed base. The AVP must have an understanding of the software development process and be able to manage complex internal projects, including, stakeholder need definition, programming oversight, training, roll-out, and ongoing support.
