Reporting to the Manager, Digital Implementation, the Specialist will play a key role in the successful implementation and adoption of digital and virtual products and services, included eServices technologies (i.e. eReferral, eConsult). The Specialist will apply a structured change management approach and methodology to support primary care and specialists in the adoption of the digital and virtual technologies in a variety of healthcare settings. The individual selected will need to build and support numerous stakeholder relationships and work with and learn from change management supports within the eServices and Patient's Before Paperwork programs to ensure a successful implementation. It will also be important to ensure alignment of work with local digital health priorities to not introduce competing models of change.

NB: Please be advised that the scope of this role is regional in nature and therefore, will focus on the pertinent region's particular needs.

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Deploy digital and virtual tools for usage in Ontario. This includes supporting the onboarding of senders and recievers to eReferral and eConsult technologies, as well as other digital solutions for supporting primary care.

  • Work closely with primary care physicians and specialists using the eServices solutions including solo practitioners, family health teams, family health organizations, and others

  • Work with the Provincial and Regional Change Management/Digital Implementation Leads to apply a structured change management approach and methodology to support digital and virtual product and services adoption

  • Provide on-job support and formal training to primary care physicians and specialists

  • Work closely with primary care and specialists to strengthen their capacity on e-referral, data analysis and data use

  • Be an active and visible coach to clinicians and stakeholders

  • Work with primary care, specialists and Regional and Provincial program offices to create workflows and manage measurement systems to track adoption, utilization, and proficiency of users

  • Identify potential risks, points of resistance, performance gaps and develop appropriate mitigation activities. Work with partners to remove barriers to change

  • Maintain information exchange and collaboration with the Regional and Provincial Change Management/Digital Implementation teams to ensure local referral strengthening activities complement the broader program vision

  • Support the Provincial eServices Program participation agreement sign off

  • Document lessons learned and present findings in a logical and easy-to-understand manner

  • Create and enable reinforcement mechanisms and celebrations of successes

  • Provide engagements with prospective senders and / or receivers as required

  • Other duties as assigned

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

  • University degree or Post-Secondary Diploma in Administration, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Information Technology (IT) or a related discipline

  • Change Management Professional certification preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting digital health initiatives or within a health care capacity

Knowledge and Skills

  • Previous experience deploying enabling technologies and digital health within Ontario; experience with eReferral and eConsult tools in particular is an asset

  • Excellent relationship building, collaboration, and engagement skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation

  • Familiarity with common Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and Hospital Information Systems (HISs) used in Ontario

  • Experience in data reporting and management

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)

  • Excellent active listening and interpersonal skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage frequent demands of multiple stakeholders

  • Able to work effectively with a diverse group of clinical and non-clinical stakeholders

  • Ability to work in a diverse and fluid working environment recognizing that different opinions and backgrounds can bring strength to the tasks at hand

  • Demonstrated experience quickly building and maintaining effective and productive working relationships in complex, multi-stakeholder healthcare environments
