As an Intermediate Network Infrastructure Specialist within our Infrastructure & Data Centre Operations Department, you will be responsible for deploying and maintaining secure and highly available SDN in Data Centers, LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN, as well as providing guidance to junior staff for deploying and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN and SD-WAN.

 What will your typical day look like?

  • Implements and maintains secure and highly available LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDN and SD-WAN for the Data Center and remote sites.
  • Provides Level 2 technical support for network infrastructure in the Cloud, on-premises Data Centers and remote sites. 
  • Provides support for battery Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), maintenance, and software updates.
  • Operates and maintains various equipment for network troubleshooting and testing.
  • Deploys packet analyzers and provides support for packet analysis results.
  • Ensures the availability and security of LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDN and SD-WAN.
  • Performs technical research and development to enable continuing innovation and increasing value to front line officers.
  • Monitors all networks for possible issues and proactively fixes.
  • Adds and maintains all network devices to the network management and vulnerability software.
  • Maintains the operating system, IOS, NX-OS and firmware of network equipment and systems.
  • Maintains documentation on technical solutions and the ecosystem for future reference and consultation. 
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts from various IT disciplines to troubleshoot application and system issues.
  • Creates change request, Method of Procedure (MOP) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation.
  • Contacts vendors for product quotations and makes recommendations for upgrades.
  • Plans and implements improvements, modifications or replacement of network infrastructure components.
  • Mentors junior staff.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

You are someone with:

  • A University Degree/College Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  One or more certification in the following, or equivalent network field certification, required:

-CCNP Enterprise
-CCNP Data Center
-DevNet Professional
-CCNP Collaboration
-CCNP Service Provider
-CCNP Security
-Azure Network Engineer Associate
-Azure Administrator Associate

  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Cisco or Equivalent network vendor in the following:
    -Implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting Data Center Network/LAN/WAN/WLAN for enterprise businesses
    -Cisco SR/ISR routers and Catalyst/Nexus switches
    -OSPF and BGP routing protocols
    -IPSec VPN
  • A minimum of 1 year of working experience with the following systems, tools and/or technologies:
    -Implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting QoS in the network for critical applications like voice, etc.
    -Troubleshooting network and application performance with tools from vendors like Wireshark, Fluke, NetAlly, Netscout, Solarwinds or Viavi, etc.
    -Implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting Network Access Control (NAC) with Cisco ISE or equivalent network vendor.
    -Implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting DHCP, RADIUS and TACACS .
    -Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
    -Databases such as MSSQL.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in configuring, managing and supporting networking & security configurations for Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
  • Working knowledge in designing, testing and troubleshooting outside plant single mode fiber optic networks preferred.
  • Working knowledge in building, implementing, and supporting SDWAN solution based on Cisco or VMware or Fortinet or Palo Alto vendors preferred.
  • Working knowledge in configuring, managing and supporting networking & security configurations for AWS, Google and/or other cloud environments preferred.
  • Working knowledge in configuring firewalls from vendors like Cisco, Fortinet, Checkpoint or Palo Alto preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical power distribution for data centres and computer network systems preferred
  • Knowledge of DevOps concepts, automation and technologies used in Infrastructure-as-Code i.e. CI/CD tools such as Ansible, Gitlab, Docker, Jenkins, Python, etc.  preferred.
  • Knowledge in Network vendor management is preferred.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Ontario Driver`s Licence (Class G) with full driving privileges

What we offer

The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $62,018.00 - $97,274.00 per annum.  Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($85,115.00 - $97,274.00) based on experience. The salary is complemented with a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance; and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire. This position allows for the flexibility of hybrid remote working arrangements.
