As an Engineer – Sr. Client Technology within our ITS Client Technology Services Department, you will be responsible for the co-ordination of all aspects of developing and testing the implementation of end user computing devices and software solutions, ensuring compatibility with the Peel Regional Police computing environment.  Responsible for desktop vulnerability management and Automated Software Delivery to all end user computing and mobile devices throughout PRP. Provides level 3 technical support to incidents that cannot be resolved and/or have a high business impact or urgency.

 What will your typical day look like?

  • Participates in, leads and coordinates end user computing activities in incident response for major outages and security related incidents.
  • Develops and tests software packages for automated delivery using deployment tools such as Admin Studio, SCCM, Software Centre, Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intune and Config Manager.
  • Maintains VMWare Horizon 8 VDI environment overseeing Master Images, virtual application packaging through ThinApp, app volumes, utilizing DEM and FSLogix for profile and user environment settings.
  • Analyzes user requirements for microcomputers, peripheral equipment, software and mobile devices. Conducts research on emerging technology and evaluates and recommends new hardware and software end user computing technology.  Develops, implements and maintains end user computing standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Works with Subject Matter Experts (SME's) on testing for application compatibility and customizations to prepare for deployment using established deployment methodologies.
  • Monitors and analyzes support calls and provides solutions and follow up to ensure that problems are resolved appropriately. Participates in troubleshooting of critical systems and network problem areas.
  • Develops, implements and maintains coordinated virus and vulnerability management practices in accordance with PRP IT Security practices.
  • Certifies hardware/software applications that are not PRP standard, and reports on its technical and functional merit. Participates in vendor information sessions and maintains knowledge of modern endpoint management trends in technology; introduces new approaches as appropriate.
  • Develops, implements and maintains technology standards, guidelines, policies and procedures using AD, GPO and MDM.
  • Participates in the creation of the standard desktop image including testing and piloting of the final image prior to deployment using SCCM OSD; reviews and implements changes to the image following established change control processes. Manages and administers MEM/Intunes for auto pilot enrollment of all laptops/desktops within PRP.
  • Plans, tests, schedules, creates and submits production change requests to the Change Management Advisory Board using defined change management processes.
  • Participates and represents Client Technology Services in new projects, including developing, evaluating, testing, recommending and implementing new technology solutions.
  • Provides technical leadership in the area of desktop configuration and management within Peel Regional Police and consulting services to technology projects.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

You are someone with:

  • A University Degree in a computer related discipline or equivalent; Preferred Certifications - Microsoft Managing Modern Desktops (MMD) Certification, M365 Certified Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Microsoft SCCM Certification, Microsoft Certification (MCSE), ITIL Foundation Certification, Microsoft Specialist in Windows 10, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years related experience required in a senior end user computing support role
  • A minimum of three years experience with supporting and configuring SCCM or Microsoft Endpoint Manager
  • Demonstrated advanced experience working with Windows 10, MAC OS and iOS, Windows performance analyzer, application whitelisting, virtualization technologies (VMware Horizon 8, ThinApps, App Volumes, DEM, ESLogix), mobile device management (Workspace One)
  • Demonstrated advanced experience in building software packages, automated software distribution and vulnerability management using Microsoft Endpoint Manager, Intunes, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, SCCM, Admin Studio and PowerShell
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience working with M365 / O365 products with expert knowledge of deployment of tools to physical end virtual endpoints (VDI)
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience in endpoint security patch management, OS hardening, browser hardening and drive encryption
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of hardware/software applications pertinent to the function
  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems ITIL Configuration Management principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft EA licensing
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the installation and configuration of hardware/software
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
  • Effective oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Effective written communication skills including experience with developing technical documentation for a knowledge base and knowledge centred service as well as end user documentation for training purposes
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and problem solving skills
  • Valid Ontario Driver`s Licence (Class G) with full driving privileges

What we offer

The salary range for this permanent, full-time position is $68,369.00 - $115,195.00 per annum.  Peel Regional Police offers a highly competitive compensation package; applicants will be considered for the top end of the range ($101,372.00 - $115,195.00) based on experience. The salary is complemented with a comprehensive benefit program, including employer-paid Health/Dental and Life Insurance; and the OMERS Pension Plan effective upon hire. This position allows for the flexibility of hybrid remote working arrangements.
