Ontario One Call is seeking an independent contractor to support the Digital Transformation initiatives by driving the implementation of automation tools, overseeing the integration of new technologies, and leading cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency, reduce manual processes, and improve user experiences across the organization. This is a contract-based role, not an employee position, and requires applicants to operate as a separate business entity.

Company Overview:

Ontario One Call acts as the communications link between buried infrastructure owners (our members) and individuals who are planning to dig in the province of Ontario. In 2012, the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act was passed, which stipulates that by law, anyone in the province of Ontario must contact Ontario One Call before they dig. In addition to our contact centre, we are also responsible for public education, industry outreach, and compliance.

Position Overview

Ontario One Call (OOC) is seeking a skilled and dynamic independent contractor to fill the role of a Project Manager, Digital Transformation to oversee the successful execution of a variety of digital transformation initiatives. These initiatives include the integration of automation tools, process optimizations, and technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual processes, and enhance the user experience. This role is critical in driving the transformation and modernization of Ontario One Call’s systems, supporting the achievement of OOC's strategic objectives.

The Project Manager, Digital Transformation will collaborate with internal stakeholders, IT teams, and external partners to manage and deliver projects aligned with the organization’s long-term vision.

 

Primary Duties

  • Lead and manage end-to-end digital transformation projects, ensuring timely, on-budget, and high-quality delivery.
  • Oversee the implementation of automation tools, integrating new technologies, and optimizing existing systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage cross-functional teams, including internal departments and external vendors, to successfully implement digital initiatives.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues, and changes, and develop strategies to mitigate negative impacts.
  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure successful delivery of initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and technology advancements.
  • Provide leadership and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate communication and knowledge transfer between teams to ensure smooth handoffs and integration of new solutions.
  • Report project status, key metrics, and milestones to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, or a related field. Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing digital transformation projects, with a strong understanding of automation tools, process optimization, and technology integration.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities and resources.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and best practices.
  • Experience in leading change management efforts and driving user adoption of new technologies.

  • Ability to travel to Guelph, Ontario (two days a week)
