They will assist ORCGA in ensuring accurate damage data collection and reporting for annual safety and locate outcomes. This role supports Ontario One Call's ongoing commitment to safety and damage reduction in underground infrastructure. This is a part-time contract-based role, not an employee position, and requires applicants to operate as a separate business entity.

Company Overview:

Ontario One Call acts as the communications link between buried infrastructure owners (our members) and individuals who are planning to dig in the province of Ontario. In 2012, the Ontario Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act was passed, which stipulates that by law, anyone in the province of Ontario must contact Ontario One Call before they dig. In addition to our contact centre, we are also responsible for public education, industry outreach, and compliance.

Position Overview

 

We are seeking a Damage Reporting Specialist to assist in ensuring the accurate collection and reporting of damage data for annual safety and locate outcomes. This is a part-time, contract-based role requiring approximately 60 hours per year. The position supports Ontario One Call's commitment to safety and damage reduction in underground infrastructure. Candidates must operate as a separate business entity (e.g., sole proprietorship or incorporated business).

 

Primary Duties

  • Collect and report locate data in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data submissions.
  • Support the damage reporting process.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather and verify data.
  • Participate in reporting meetings.
  • Monitor and report on trends in damage data to support safety and damage reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in damage reporting in the construction industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple data sources.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a contract-based role.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with damage reporting or within the damage prevention sector.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations related to underground infrastructure in Ontario.
  • Familiarity with data collection tools or software used for damage reporting.
  • Ability to analyze trends and generate actionable insights from data.

Candidates must also meet the following requirements:

  • Ability to travel to Guelph, Ontario (two days a week)
  • Must pass criminal background check

 

Contract Details

Start Date: April 2025

Duration: 1 year, up to 60 hours annually
