The Senior Specialist, Product Implementation (Product Specialist II) role supports Digital Excellence in Health product teams. They provide expertise in specific product functionality, clinical workflows, strategic business analysis, as well as requirements elicitation and facilitation. The purpose of the role is to lead integration initiatives enabling internal and external clients to consume patient/provider data. Support the management of all aspects of the product lifecycle, including the gathering of requirements for product enhancements, onboarding activities as well as acting as a subject matter expert for all aspects of the product. The role requires clear communication, both verbal and written, and close working ties with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure that the product remains relevant, effective and efficient.
Here is what you will be doing:
• Maintains expertise in their business domain via interactions with external stakeholders and government organizations. Transfers knowledge to the product team.
• Provides subject matter expertise in HL7/FHIR, XML messaging principles, techniques, and technologies.
• Leads integration initiatives leveraging integration engines (e.g. Rhapsody, BizTalk, Mirth, etc..)
• Actively works directly with the team for collaboration, peer support, and to ensure a consistent approach to executing work assignments.
• Acts independently with a low level of supervision with the ability to determine when to escalate broader impacting decisions to management.
• Collaborates with external stakeholders and government agencies.
• Leads product integration initiatives and collaborate with other cross-functional teams in delivery of tasks/projects.
• Develops and takes responsibility for own workload, initiatives, and roadmaps for a specific product in collaboration with cross-functional teams across Ontario Health. Jointly accountable for the quality of the products and services that they deliver for their customers.
• Assists with the development and identification of product synergies to ensure swift delivery across multiple product portfolios within the organization.
• Develops the best user experiences possible.
• Engages internal and external clients to gain a deeper understanding of their product domain and actively listen to their clients to understand their needs.
• Designs, develops, and leads user research to gain a deeper understanding of the client's needs.
• Champions changes across the team to improve the product and its associated processes as well as team practices.
• Leads and implements the change within the product and team practices.
• Anticipates project bottlenecks and blockers in short term and long-term product roadmaps. Works with multiple departments to overcome these challenges.
• Independently engages and actively participates in team discussion with other internal product management teams to recommend product features and changes to product features to improve the user experience, operation, and maintainability of the product.
• Creates new Ontario Health business paradigms including new processes and tools.
• Provides excellent service to internal and external clients by discovering and meeting their needs and building and maintaining positive and effective working relationships.
• Leads by example, demonstrating integrity, creativity, and enthusiasm in achieving results directly.
• Works with the management in the definition of Product Vision.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of the product and its logical architecture, policy, procedures and standards.
• Leads sprint planning sessions to clarify the details of the sprint items and provide clear and concise acceptance criteria for user stories.
• Elicits requirements using a variety of formats and techniques including interviews, document analysis, workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, event lists and competitive product analysis.
• Leads requirements analysis and verification ensuring that requirement statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable.
• Documents Non-Functional requirements such as security, privacy, legal and maintainability.
• Conducts impact analysis for the product on internal and external stakeholders and systems; including communication plan to ensure buy-in and awareness of the product release.
• Collaborate with the Dev, QA, and UX Design teams in both an agile and waterfall fashion (project dependent).
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Health-related fields, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 5 - 7 years of experience in Product Management and Information Technology Business Analysis and project management and/or vendor management.
• Certified Scrum Product Owner and Scrum Master designation is an asset.
• Experience with formal requirements elicitation, analysis techniques, process design, re-engineering, implementation, and data analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of multiple agile methodologies and the capability to apply Ha level techniques.
• In-depth knowledge of documentation tooling such as Confluence Wiki or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of JIRA or similar bug tracking tools.
• Strong knowledge of project delivery practices in a matrix environment.
• Strong knowledge of Process Mapping Techniques.
• Excellent knowledge of SDLC.
• Experience with healthcare integration projects considered is required.
• Knowledge of SQL, VBA, SharePoint, BI tools.
• Knowledge of user centric design and innovation.
• Expert Knowledge of Business Domain specific to their product area.
• Excellent Knowledge of ITSM practices.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario Healthcare system required.
• Strong knowledge of HL7/FHIR, XML messaging principles, techniques, and technologies.
Knowledge and Skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills to identify and overcome bottleneck and blocker challenges, leads requirements analysis and verification, conduct impact analysis.
• Ability to review and provide feedback to HL7 FHIR specifications
• Leading integration and onboarding activities with new consumers and managing updates with existing consumers.
• Strong communications skills, both orally and in writing, to elicit requirements from internal and external clients, engage and actively participate in team discussion, write RFPs and feasibility studies.
• Strong interpersonal, fact finding and interviewing skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams across Ontario Health, transfer knowledge to the product team, interact with product/project teams, cross-portfolio interaction, external stakeholder interaction and ministry stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills and the ability to quickly shift priorities and adapt to changes to meet organizational and department requirements.
• Ability to manage simultaneous projects from initiation to completion.
