Job Summary
Information Technology Services (ITS) empowers the success of students, faculty, and staff through an overall focus on service, advising and consulting. ITS supports university instructional research and administrative requirements. The department is responsible for all centrally managed computing, networking, security, and telecommunications facilities within the university.
Reporting to the Manager of Service Operations, Service Delivery, the Team Lead, Lab and Imaging Services oversees the lab environment for students which includes physical and virtual labs and providing the image that is used on all Dalhousie purchased devices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain computer labs on Studley, Carleton, Sexton and Truro campuses, which includes coordinating the installation, setup, deployment and refresh of all ITS computer lab hardware and software.
  • Oversee the creation and deployment of several images for both the staff and lab machines. Plan and coordinate shutdown of labs as required for deployment of new hardware, ensuring minimal disruptions to users.
  • Test new software and tailor software to work in a network environment.
  • Lead projects that relate to new priorities or direction for lab solutions.
  • Provide leadership and daily operational direction to the Lab and Imaging team and Student Lab Attendants.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field, with seven years of IT experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proven organization skills; effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with clients in a professional manner.
  • Experience with lab management and imaging software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, Office suites, MS Windows, and Mac OS X.
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and keeping track of project progress and milestones.
  • Ability to effectively train other technical staff.

Assets
  • Experience providing leadership to a team.
  • Experience working in a post-secondary university or other academic institutions.
  • Experience working with Ghost and DeepFreeze.
