Job Summary
Dalhousie Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) is the premier Maritime location for advanced study with over 3,500 graduate students in a research-intensive environment who can choose from over 95 Master's degrees and more than 45 Doctoral programs. Students learn with top professors in their fields; experts who are recognized across Canada and the world.Reporting to the Manager, Graduate Student Systems, the IT Coordinator is responsible for business intelligence reporting, business tool development and support, and general desktop and IT support required to meet FGS objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, implement and maintain ad-hoc and scheduled reports and queries to support FGS business processes and graduate departments using Business Intelligence tools.
  • Interpret query and report outputs to present results in a format suitable for the intended use, verifying data accuracy and troubleshooting as appropriate.
  • Identify and adapt to changes to the existing data model, collaborating with institutional data holders as appropriate to meet FGS business needs.
  • Assist with implementation of new institution-level business tools and software, providing on-boarding and troubleshooting support to FGS staff.
  • Act as the first line of contact for any hardware and software issues of FGS technology equipment.
  • Manage accounts, passwords, and access (Project Accounts, Multi-Factor Authentication) and act as a back-up to manage FGS NAS access while ensuring guidelines and security standards are maintained.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, plus three to five years' experience in a technical support environment (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • experience in relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL server) and any database reporting tool or BI suite tools in the market.
  • Familiarity with a Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Advanced Proficiency in Office 365.
  • Experience with desktop support, including hardware maintenance.
  • Excellent communication, time management, multi-tasking, organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Assets
  • Experience in use of Office 365 tools for business process development, reporting (Power BI) and automation.
