Position Overview: As a Summer University Co-op on the Database Team, you will focus on the documentation and standardization of our databases. You will also manage configuration management database (CMDB) items related to databases. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in database management and contribute to the optimization of our data systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the documentation of database structures, processes, and procedures.
- Develop and implement standardization protocols for database management.
- Manage and update CMDB items related to databases.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Participate in database performance tuning and optimization activities.
- Support the database team in daily operations and troubleshooting tasks.
- Contribute to the development of best practices for database management.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a university or college program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of database concepts and SQL, knowledge of Oracle and/or SQL Server databases is preferred.
- Good understanding of IT technologies such as virtualization, storage systems, operating systems, and networking concepts. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team. Self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with configuration management databases (CMDB) is a plus.
- Nice-to-have: Development experience with shell scripting, PowerShell, Java or Python.
