About the role

As a Senior Software (SW) Configuration Analyst you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the configuration of SW, ensuring that all SW changes are tracked, documented, and implemented correctly, using dedicated configuration management tools to maintain system integrity and facilitate smooth SW releases throughout the development lifecycle.

Specific tasks include:

  • Managing SW configuration activities including baseline SW definition, SW audits, releases and build management
  • Collaborating with development teams to analyze requirements, identify potential issues, and implement configuration changes while adhering to established standards and best practices
  • Facilitating SW Configuration Item identification
  • Conducting SW document reviews
  • Processing System Problem Reports (SPRs)
  • Reviewing and tracking Operating Environment Patches and SW Installations
  • Processing and verifying forms for SW Fixes and Patches
  • Verifying the Software Version Description (SVD)/Version Description Document (VDD) is accurate in accordance with the build
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of the Software Release and Build Request (SRBR) information against the planned contents of evolutionary builds, approved changes, SPR status, checkout status of library files and build/test environment
  • Organizing and chairing the Software Configuration Control Board (CCB) including generation of meeting minutes
  • Building Configuration records/logs
  • Maintaining version control to track revisions made to the source code of programs
  • Collaborating with project managers, SW developers, and quality assurance teams to understand client requirements and project scope
  • Managing data retention and storage, part numbering configuration status accounting and change control
  • Maintaining the software product repository for each project to capture work products selected for configuration baselines, as they mature in the product lifecycle
  • Developing and maintaining documentation related to software configuration processes, troubleshooting guides, and best practices.

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 to 8 years of professional experience
  • Knowledge of Redmine, Jira, SVN, Windchill, Confluence
  • Knowledge of Hardware (HW) and SW Configuration Management
  • Version Control systems management
  • Configuration Audit experience
  • Ability to prioritize requests and communicate schedule to all stakeholders
  • Ability to solve problems both independently and collaboratively in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to obtain a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) SECRET clearance in a timely manner
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and actively assist as needed.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Certification in SW configuration management
  • General understanding of the SW development process including SW coding, development files, baselines, unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, qualification testing, installation and maintenance.
