The Senior Quality Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of materials and components supplied to our shipbuilding projects. This position involves administration of audits; planning and scheduling, collaborating with cross-functional teams, process creation, training, Approved Supplier List maintenance and travel approval and proposal.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare comprehensive audits of supplier facilities to evaluate quality management systems, manufacturing processes, and adherence to industry standards.
  • Schedule internal resource (Subject Matter Experts etc.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify critical components and materials, establishing audit criteria accordingly
  • Distribute audit reports
  • Work closely with suppliers to address non-conformities, implement corrective actions, and ensure continuous improvement in quality processes
  • Stay current with industry regulations, standards, and best practices to drive ongoing process improvements.
  • Participate in supplier qualification processes, assessing capabilities and performance to support strategic sourcing decisions
  • Engage in cross-functional communication to align supplier audit activities with project timelines and quality objectives.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and training for auditing processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills, visual data management and the ability to gather and interpret objective evidence
  • Evaluate new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity, and compliance to requirements
  • Conduct and follow up on actions from external audits to ensure that ISI suppliers are compliance with contractual requirements
  • Be a quality and health and safety champion

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • University Degree in a relevant field (science, engineering, business)
    • ASQ - Certified Quality Auditor or equivalent
    • Certificate in ISO auditing or equivalent
    • PMP or Project Management
  • Experience:
    • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS 9100 or equivalent Quality Management Systems
    • In-depth knowledge of shipbuilding materials, processes, and industry standards would be an asset
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal teams and external suppliers.
    • Strong program/project management skills
