We are seeking an Intermediate Security Analyst to join our IT Security Team in Halifax, Nova Scotia supporting Defence programs for the Canadian Navy.

You will join a high-performing team that prioritizes security, leverages a large suite of powerful tools, and enables our people to drive improvement across the organization. As a Security Specialist, you will provide guidance and oversight to support IT Operations in the recommendation, implementation, and validation of security controls. You will be help ensure that System Security Engineering principles are considered from project initiation through design, build, operation, and disposal. You will work closely with other teams and provide security advice to systems engineers, designers, and architects.

This role includes opportunities to provide technical briefs to senior leaders and have input to security policy and design. The ideal candidate is an independent worker with a passion for security and a deep understanding of security principles. Experience in the Defence Industry is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • University Degree (Computer Science, Engineering) or College Diploma (Cybersecurity)
  • 3-5 years of Security experience
  • Basic understanding of security concepts such as:
  • Network security zoning
    • Security controls
    • Zero Trust Architecture
    • Security Assurance
    • Secure design principles
    • System hardening and configuration compliance
  • Comfortable consuming and producing technical documentation
  • Ability to initiate and pursue independent work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced Word, PowerPoint, and Excel functions
  • Able to obtain Canadian Government Security Clearance (CAN SECRET)

Qualifications

  • CISSP, Certified in Cybersecurity, Security+, or similar certification
  • An understanding of penetration testing
  • Experience with risk management and integrating security into software development life cycle
  • Experience with Process Development and Process Engineering
  • Ability to anticipate trends and develop plans to protect against emerging threats
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and security references (e.g. NIST 800 series)
  • Participation in vulnerability management programs
  • Experience with security analytics and metrics
  • Scripting and query language abilities
