About this opportunity:

Cenovus is currently seeking a Senior Digital Transformation Engineer to be based in our St. John's Office and to collaborate with teams to find digital innovation opportunities, develop scalable solutions, and integrate systems. This is a key role in crafting innovative digital transformation projects, applying coding skills to enhance business processes. While your development experience is crucial, this position goes beyond coding; it involves strategizing, planning, and executing digital transformation projects that enhance our business processes and stakeholder experiences.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with business unit stakeholders (e.g., production operations, drilling operations, H&S, logistics) to understand business needs and gather business requirements. Align with the digital transformation priorities and roadmap

  • Assess the current solution landscape, define application/data/integration requirements, evaluate potential solutions, and select preferred solutions in conjunction with Corporate IT

  • Architect and design scalable software solutions based on standard methodologies and development frameworks

  • Develop and maintain applications and integration solutions across multiple platforms

  • Define and implement QA plans including architecture reviews, and functional and non-functional testing

  • Adhere to software engineering methods including Agile methods and DevOps

  • Create and maintain architecture and design artifacts

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • BSc or equivalent experience in Engineering/Computer Science; MSc and above is an asset

  • 3 years in the oil and gas experience an asset

  • 8 years' experience as a developer with strong knowledge of front-end and back-end technologies including JavaScript, .NET Core, Java, and Python

  • Knowledgeable in current software development frameworks and application integration methods

  • Strong understanding of data platforms such as Databricks and DBMSs

  • Familiarity with data analytics and visualizations

  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and service offerings (such as AWS and Azure)

  • Experience with Agile methods and software configuration management

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as presentation skills

  • A dedication to continuous learning and development

  • The capability to work independently and as part of a team
