The organization utilizes many Microsoft platforms, has an Oracle EnterpriseOne ERP as its core transaction system, operates several CAD systems, several Business Intelligence tools and maintains many businesses specific software applications.

Job Summary

We are seeking an SQL Database Systems Administrator to join our Information Technology team in Saint John, NB, reporting to the IT Operations Manager. The SQL Database System Administrator serves as a strong pillar that ensures reliable performance of the ERP system. This role is responsible for troubleshooting any ERP related hardware, software or user access issue that may hinder the company's smooth workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage existing JD Edwards ERP system. Includes Building and Deploying new packages, installing ESU's, system upgrades, monitoring system health, troubleshooting issues and supporting end users.
  • Maintain, manage and deploy Microsoft SQL Server Databases across our environment. Includes performance monitoring, security management, backups, etc.
  • Create and maintain existing systems documentation.
  • Build and/or support integrations between database systems and application systems.
  • Act in a Tier 3 Support Role for ERP and SQL Systems, handling escalated Incidents and Service Requests while providing guidance to our Tier 2 support team. This includes on call and/or after-hours support.
  • Responsible for testing and insuring Business Continuity of Database systems in a DR scenario.
  • You will be expected to participate in projects with a focus on continuous improvement and assisting the IT department in achieving its larger goals.

Technical Requirements

  • Two-year technical diploma in Information Technology/Electrical Engineering Technology or bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in server administration, database platforms, virtualization, and cloud-based technology.
  • Project Management experience or certifications considered an asset.\
  • ITIL, ISC2 and Microsoft SQL related Certifications considered an asset

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders
