As an IT Retail Solutions Architect, you will be translating business objectives into technology plans to propose, develop, document and implement IT architecture solutions to support core retail applications and assure their high availability. This role ensures that company enterprise architecture principles and standards are applied in the design and implementation of solutions/applications and technology (hardware/software).

Your Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the assessment and definition of Retail technology (Point of Sale, Payment, Loyalty) architecture strategies, principles, policies and standards
  • Support the design, development and prototyping of innovative solutions (process, applications, data and technology) that align with business strategies or solve business problems
  • Develop technical specifications for new products/services, applications and service offerings
  • Assess the compatibility and integration of proposed products/services to ensure an integrated architecture across technologies
  • Lead the analysis of the technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
  • Develop project and technology roadmaps and define plans to mitigate gaps between the current and future state
  • Maintain positive relationships with IT and business leaders to effectively promote, advise, and communicate the IT architecture value proposition
  • Provide leadership of solution designs and configuration of systems and supporting applications within the Corporate Technology group
  • Plan, research, evaluate, design, document and develop network systems by applying engineering, hardware and software design theories and principles to develop a compatible system infrastructure in line with organization standards

Your Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting and documentation skills
  • Proven ability to maintain good working relationships with stakeholders including senior leaders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to quickly identify and mitigate problems
  • Experience dealing with multiple priorities and deadlines / proven ability to meet hard deadlines
  • Good presentation skills

Your Experience:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or equivalent would be preferred
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in system architecture, design, development, and deployment
  • Hands-on experience with software development and system administration
  • Understanding of strategic IT solutions
  • Experience in project management and service-oriented architecture (SOA)
  • Familiarity with various operating systems (e.g. Windows, UNIX) and databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle)
  • Experience in cloud technologies (e.g. Azure, AWS)
  • Understanding and experience with network and application security
  • Experience in Convenience Retail, including Fuel, is a definite asset
  • TOGAF certification would be an asset
  • Experience with Point of Sale and integrated Loyalty solutions or technical systems of similar design and complexity is a definite asset
