This role is for a Senior Lead, Product Operations in Core, overseeing operations for the Checkout and B2B product areas. The Checkout group's mission is to build the singular checkout for all sales channels of merchants at any scale, with the world's best conversion rate. The B2B group's mission is to be the market leader for all B2B commerce.
As a Senior Lead, Product Operations, you will be responsible for building and running at-scale systems that ensure alignment, visibility, and speed in our product development processes for two of our product areas in Shopify's Core. You will lead the planning process for two different product areas, including roadmap planning and business reviews on an annual, quarterly and bi-quarterly rhythm. You will define, own, and continuously improve company-wide processes that scale to Shopify as a whole, such as how we establish and enforce Checkout policies with merchants and partners. You will be responsible for communicating with stakeholders at all levels about product progress and outcomes for your areas. Lastly, you are expected to help improve the craft of Product Operations at Shopify by mentoring other product operators, sharing best practices, and contributing to aiming how Core and the rest of Shopify operates.

Remove roadblocks to product development: solve bottlenecks, streamline communication, accelerate decisions and help us focus and move faster to make merchants successful
Gather and analyze large amounts of information quickly and disseminate insights leading to data-informed product and GTM development
Structure and solve complex and ambiguous product, business and operational challenges affecting multiple product areas and Shopify as a whole (e.g. roadmap dependencies between Checkout and the rest of the company, large scale product migrations, GTM and merchant feedback loop in B2B)
Partner with teams (e.g. Product, Engineering, UX, Marketing, Data Science, Sales) to cross-functionally align product planning and assembly, drive momentum to ship highly interdependent products
Build systems for frequent alignment, accountability to outcomes, and feedback within product areas with dozens of concurrent projects
Raise the bar across Product Ops at Shopify: scale what works, question what doesn't, and mentor craft members across the company to build a world-class team
Experience in successfully driving complex operational and strategic initiatives, including zero-to-one launches, large business-critical migrations, and highly interconnected, cross-functional projects
Technical understanding and business experience of B2B commerce and checkout platforms
Experience in designing and rolling out effective minimum viable process, thinking in systems while rolling up their sleeves to get things done
Proven ability to prioritize strategically and getting things done pragmatically in a fast-paced & growing environment
Ability to pull projects out of local maxima, and influence teams to consider a different approach
Excellent communication skills to effectively update executive stakeholders as well as influence and enable product teams
Be self driven, proactive and able to navigate through ambiguity and complexity
Direct people leadership experience acting as a player-coach & mentor
Prior experience working on data products or with data teams is a plus
