Senior Business Analyst (digital banking)

Description:
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst with digital banking experience. Who you are:
As our Senior Business Analyst, you will combine an understanding of digital transformation, financial services (credit union experience is a plus) and digital banking platforms, agile software development and user interface design principles to help facilitate and support application development and delivery while ensuring project deliverables meet documented specifications.

You will be comfortable taking charge of projects by extracting, analyzing, and validating our clients' business requirements. This includes documentation reviews, stakeholder interviews, group facilitation, and other requirements-gathering exercises to articulate process flows and business requirements. With this information, you will convert requirements into software development specifications for internal and external development teams using various software modeling documentation techniques.

What you will be doing:

  • Acting as a consultant, advisor, and facilitator with a passion for the digital and an eye for detail.
  • Assessing and identifying clients' business needs.
  • Working with stakeholders and project teams to prioritize collected requirements
  • Documenting requirements critical to achieving business objectives
  • Identifying and establishing project scope based on requirements analysis to define impact, outcome criteria, and measure-taking actions
  • Acting as a customer representative to internal development teams to ensure solutions satisfy client needs
  • Acting as an ambassador for Aequelibirum and maintaining a close relationship with the client throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assembling, analyzing, and generating high-quality functional specifications for technical teams.
  • Presenting comprehensive business recommendations and technical functional specifications to clients.
  • Hosting and documenting internal and client meetings
  • Optimizing and improving requirements gathering and documentation processes in the strategy group based on best practices
  • Diffusing problems and putting forward solutions that are in the company's best interest.
  • Participating in ongoing special projects that support Aequilibrium's work environment and strategic plans.
  • Performing various other project-related tasks on an as-needed basis.

Qualification Requirements:

Must-Have:

  • Be located in North, Central, or South America.
  • 5+ years working as a business analyst or product owner in tech professional services and the financial services industry (credit unions, banks, and/or fintech)
  • 3+ years experience with defining software functional specifications for digital banking products.
  • Direct client management experience, ideally within financial services or the banking sector.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Experience using UML-based techniques for specifying requirements like use cases, data-flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, state-transition diagrams, class diagrams, decision tables, and sequence diagrams.
  • Proficiency in various VB software requirements methodologies.
  • Experience with identifying data/information requirements.
  • Experience with organizing & presenting complex information in simple visual models.
  • The ability to analyze, organize, and present vague concepts, hard data, and random thoughts.
  • Technical experience in web or software development, with a strong understanding of web technology platforms and their capabilities/limitations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with building and fostering client relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of technology processes and methodology with a willingness to learn new tools and techniques.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Strong communication and multi-tasking skills.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and interact with multiple stakeholders positively and professionally while meeting tight deadlines within a fast-paced business environment.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Project management experience.
  • Scrum Master and/or Product Owner Certified.
  • PMP or Prince 2 certifications.
  • Experience working with digital banking platforms like Backbase, Central1 Forge, Intellect Design.
  • Experience with requirements management software.

Education

  • A university degree in Computer Science or Business Administration or equivalent work experience.

Location:
This position is 100% remote; however, only candidates based in the Americas will be considered. While Aequilibrium is a remote-first company, we host in-person social events, and some on-site work may occasionally be required to support business needs.

Salary:
The salary range for this position is CAD $110,000 to $130,000 annually.
