As an Analytics Engineering Manager, you will:
Lead one or more data engineering teams, with each team, or team members focused on various product or domain areas of Shopify (e.g. Merchandising, Payments, Finance Data, etc.)
Foster cross-discipline collaboration and establish best practices
Manage all aspects of performance management, performance improvement plans, promotions, etc.
Drive positive business impact through data engineering in collaboration with key stakeholders
Work with business partners to understand requirements, and partner with developers to better understand data production
Design, build, profile, and document datasets and the jobs that build them
For an Analytics Engineering Manager role at Shopify, you would bring:
Experience building and managing high-performing data teams; you value collaborating on problems, asking questions, delivering feedback, and supporting others in achieving their goals
Experience as a technical thought leader and you’re comfortable navigating ambiguity while supporting your team
Hands-on experience with dbt, Spark and dimensional modeling techniques (Star Schema, Kimball, Inmon)
As preferable experience, hands-on experience building streaming pipelines using Apache Beam and/or Flink and preferably on GCP architecture
Extensive exposure to best in class data engineering tooling including that which deals with: heavy data ingesting, transformations testing, data lineage, orchestration, data publishing, metric layers, etc.
