The CE&S Business Intelligence (BI) Team is responsible for delivering data-driven decision-making and self-serve analytics to optimize customer experience and support operations across Microsoft's assisted and self-service support surfaces. We build and manage data platforms and data flows, oversee data and measurement governance, develop Machine Learning (ML) models, manage support-critical data tools, and provide both core and business-specific analytics resources and guidance.

We are looking for a Sr. Data Analyst who is willing to work in a dynamic environment alongside our data governance, taxonomy and master data management team. You will need to be adept at managing business change, evolving requirements, adjustments in a strategic direction, and emerging technologies. You will need to be agile and flexible, yet proficient and disciplined. This is an amazing opportunity to be at the center of building a showcase worthy data capability, the successful candidates should have proven experience in program management, solid understanding of both business and engineering priorities, analytical, financial, organizational and communication skills. Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field

    AND 7+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 5+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis

    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years of product and/or program management across an impactful portfolio of projects & stakeholders
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience working in a data intensive environment and translating business needs into data requirements (experience with Microsoft Azure stack, SQL, Python, Azure Databricks, Synapse, Power BI, Fabric, Machine Learning and AI)
  • Proficient in problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high quality
  • Initiative and passion for finding solutions to hard problems at scale and operationalizing them
  • Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous situations and across organizational boundaries.
  • Proficiency in data modelling, data analysis, data warehousing and integration, data quality assurance
  • Understanding of Privacy and Compliance aspects of data storage & processing as it relates to GDPR and PII
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.


Data Analytics IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $121,800 - CAD $219,100 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with and understand business needs of your stakeholders, prioritizing & translating those needs into technical requirements and implement alongside our data & analytics engineering team
  • Determines the technique needed and develops analytic models to understand complex business issues and provide data-driven insights by integrating statistical inference, Machine Learning modeling, AI and/or other advanced analytical methods to manage, classify and analyze complex data from a variety of sources.
  • Perform analysis on business operations using a variety of analytical tools (SQL, Python, Azure Databricks, Synapse, Power BI, Fabric etc), executes analyses and interprets results with actionable recommendations, and partners to build on others' frameworks.
  • Design, execute & streamline our intake processes, including user stories, acceptance criteria, bug & data matrices, and subsequent effort estimations and task sequencing
  • Insist & deliver on high standards of quality, including data accuracy & timeliness
  • Ensure all outputs & deliverables adhere to consistent frameworks and standards, including business rule logic & taxonomy
  • Define & measure the success/impact of requested analytics & reporting features via quantitative measures
  • To ensure all stakeholders are well-informed, deliver clear, concise, and comprehensive communication tailored to their specific needs and expectations
  • Mentor & teach on best practices – insistent focus on developing greatness in your peers
  • Participate in broader evangelization and communication to relevant Microsoft communities
