Amazon Web Service (AWS) software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at a massive scale. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, and security; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to AWS needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. Project Alameda is an internal initiative to help other AWS services to accelerate and transform their businesses. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage AWS's cutting-edge technology and tools that help AWS service-team developers to build features at a rapid pace, without compromising quality or security.
In this role, you will work as part of a team, collaborating with other engineers, architects, and security professionals across different teams at AWS. You will anticipate our customer needs and be empowered to act like an owner, take action and innovate.
Key job responsibilities
* Responsible for leading by example and mentoring more junior engineers.
* Contribute to the team's technical strategy and deliver excellent designs and code.
* Solving our complex technical challenges with customer obsession.
* Work and collaborate in an agile team to deliver results and meet commitments.
* Own and maintain distributed, fault tolerant, highly available and scalable services.
* Assist in developing project plans and meeting customer commitments
* Strive to constantly improve our operational practices and CI/CD practices.
* Work with other engineers to diagnose and resolve customer issues including as part of on-call rotation.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary for this position ranges from $114,800/year up to $191,800/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
