Job Description

What will you do?

As a Senior Visual/UI Designer, you are a collaborative team player with the ability to create complex, visually appealing UI designs for websites and mobile apps. You demonstrate strong visual design fundamentals in your work such as typography, colour, layouts, style, components and imagery. You advocate for visually compelling experiences - considering the microinteractions between the user and product. You are dedicated to designing accessible products (WCAG).

• Deliver high-quality UI design for web and mobile applications.
• Build cohesive visual design kits and increase the visual maturity for the projects/teams.
• Present thoughtful solutions to the design and product teams, articulating your design rationale effectively.
• Provide day-to-day mentorship to other designers, helping them navigate UI design challenges for their projects.
• Ensure all designs adhere to RBC's accessibility guidelines, creating accessible experiences for all RBC employees.
• Promote the use of a design system amongst designers, developers and other participants.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX researchers, and engineers to align designs with business goals and user needs.
• Learn, adapt and introduce new design methodologies, tools, and trends.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

• BA/BS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI) or a related field or equivalent practical experience
• Deep knowledge in 2-3 key areas: visual design, accessible design, UI design fundamentals, responsive design and design systems.
• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in designing interfaces across web and mobile apps.
• A portfolio showcasing UI/UX design work and problem solving skills.
• Fluency in Figma and prototyping tools

Nice-to-have:

• Experience working on internal tools or enterprise-level products.
• Experience working with design systems.
• Experience with branding
• Experience with UX writing or copywriting.
