Role Summary:

TMX Newsfile is the largest Canadian-owned news dissemination and regulatory filing provider. Global Technology Services (GTS) is one of the foundational divisions of the TMX Group, that empowers internal TMX business lines for their technology needs, operations and digital innovation. GTS as a client centric organization focuses on building technology capabilities, enabling our clients with the best technology solutions and providing effective technology financial and resource management processes. The cost effective operation is a key attribute of the GTS execution. GTS is responsible for delivery of all technology initiatives and services across TMX.

Reporting to Managing Director, Newsfile Delivery Lead (also serving as Squad Lead), the Scrum Master is a facilitator and coach for the TMX Newsfile Development squad, working with the Squad Lead to remove impediments/distractions and to meet deliverables. You will guide day-to-day activities, run the daily standups, facilitate core meetings and get the team working together and exhibiting the core values of Agile. You will be a servant leader, who ensures the squad enjoys optimal conditions (processes, environment, freedom from impediments) to optimize its deliveries. As a secondary role the Scrum Master will also assist in supporting a select portfolio of PHP codebases and associated projects. This role combines the leadership and facilitation skills of a Scrum Master to drive Agile processes with hands-on creativity in PHP development, offering the perfect blend of team management and technical innovation.

Key Accountabilities:

• Coordinates and facilitates Agile ceremonies and decision-making processes in order to ensure quick inspection and proper use of Agile methodology.

• Enables close cooperation across all roles and functions, addressing resourcing requirements and removing impediments.

• Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

• Provides best practices into the planning and implementation of Agile practice management programs.

• Captures obstacles at the daily stand-up.

• Tracks progress of sprints.

• Acts as a facilitator for the squad, ensuring the sprint is in good shape and ready for the next sprint.

• Facilitates the team for better creativity and tries to improve efficiency.

• Foster an environment where the team can be effective, addressing team dynamics.

• Collaborates with various chapter leads to implement a continuous improvement process.

• Collaborates with the Squad Lead to prioritize the Product Backlog.

• Facilitate end-to-end scoping and estimation.

• Conduct story mapping, sprint/release planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives and help organize sprint reviews/demos.

• Identifies, tracks and resolves Risks, Issues and Blockers.

• Lead the team to self-organization, cross-functionality and adoption of a mature Agile delivery.

• Continuously seek to improve team performance through tracking key metrics.

• Assist with the management and development of a select portfolio of PHP codebases.

Must haves:

• Experienced Agile practitioner

• Min. 3+ Years of solid experience delivering software products

• Min. 3+ Years of Scrum experience, certified scrum master preferred

• Experience developing applications using PHP and mySQL in a Windows environment

• Knowledge of agile development best practices, and experience with project management tools such as Jira

• Excellent people management skills

• Possesses a 'do it, try it, fix it' mentality

• Flexible and adaptable to new and diverse work environments

• Excels in commitment and integrity

• Effective in motivating teams and guiding them through impediments and/or challenges

• Ability to rationalize decisions in a clear and objective manner

• Capacity to adapt to multiple priority changes in a timely manner

• Strong skills in resource planning and optimizing team performance

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with different organizational levels (squads, business areas, senior management, other IT groups) as well as ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.

Nice to haves:

• Experience with Atlassian SAAS tools

• Working knowledge of Perl and Microsoft SQLServer

• Understanding of Amazon Web Services, in particular Lambda

Salary Range: 85K/year - 95K/year
