Main Purpose and Function
The DBL Project Manager oversees complex projects within the department and across the larger organization, driving significant changes throughout the City that often involve multi-million dollar investments and span multiple business units. This role includes managing all phases of projects—planning, execution, control, and closeout—while ensuring timely delivery within budget and to a high level of quality. The Project Manager's recommendations may lead to the reassignment of responsibilities among staff or organizational units, as well as adjustments to the staff complement. Assigned to high-priority cross-departmental projects identified by Council, the Project Manager is responsible for monitoring metrics, timelines, and issues, collaborating with key project staff to resolve any challenges that arise. Additionally, the Project Manager initiates new projects and supports ongoing projects in sustainment, even in the absence of dedicated project staff.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 - 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
