The IT Infrastructure Manager, Networking will be responsible for leading and directing a group of IT resources, including organizing and prioritizing work. This person organizes and attends meetings to discuss workloads and prioritization efforts, both inside IT and with various business stakeholders, and then monitors the work and adjusts as required.

The IT Infrastructure Manager, Networking, is responsible for the design (in conjunction with systems architect and business owners), planning (alongside Project Managers), setup, monitoring, maintenance, and security of West Fraser´s IT Infrastructure including WAN (wide area network), LAN (local area network), networking equipment (core switches, switches, routers, firewalls), wireless devices (indoor\outdoor) and network operations.

The successful candidate will provide expert technical assistance for West Fraser´s systems, networking, and data requirements. This role is based onsite with some travel within North America required.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring adherence to procedures, policies and standards set by management, especially related to work management, tickets, and change management & audits
  • Planning short-range priorities to carry out long term goals set by management
  • Organizing the team work to allow for leaves, vacations, and holidays
  • Assigning and delegating tasks
  • Providing support to the Project Manager in developing and maintaining project timelines or manage small to mid-size projects
  • Providing updates to your manager & appropriate business groups on the status of initiatives and projects
  • Developing and promoting effective communication channels
  • Developing and promoting team cohesiveness
  • Providing training and development opportunities for your team including regular one on one meetings
  • Addressing performance issues with oversight from managers
  • Approving department invoicing and purchasing working with the manager
  • Assisting in the department budgeting process but not responsible for budget delivery
  • Designing and implementing LAN and WAN data networks, wireless networks, and/or IT infrastructure solutions to support voice and data services at all company locations.
  • Ensuring a timely expansion of the IT Infrastructure as required by West Fraser´s expansion and operations
  • Building a resilient and redundant infrastructure that will reduce\eliminate failures and downtimes and supports the continuous 24x7 delivery of IT Services.
  • Leading and managing a team of Infrastructure analysts and technicians to layout, install, configure, maintain, and recover IT/network//communication equipment.
  • Providing Servers, Core Switches, Switches, Firewall and Routers support and administration.
  • Performing periodic network assessments and network/systems security audits in conjunction with the Security Team.
  • Planning and implementing upgrades required to maintain adequate service levels.
  • Participating in the administration and maintenance of all remote monitoring solutions and Infrastructure Management Systems.
  • Recruiting, training, supervising, and scheduling of IT Infrastructure personnel to ensure support of business operations.
  • Managing technical vendors, contractors, and Infrastructure consultants.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4 year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Requires advanced technical and business knowledge in networking and related infrastructure
  • Ability to orchestrate and coordinate work of others
  • Ability to set goals for deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision
  • Ability to be a hands-on Manager, performing work of the team when necessary to meet commitments
  • Excellent management skills with the ability to perform in a challenging, but collaborative, work environment, with individuals from across the organization with diverse interests and concerns
  • Highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, written, and oral communication skills
  • Advanced levels of analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking
  • Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Our highly competitive compensation package includes:

  • The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $130,000 this may vary depending on experience, education, and location.
