Job Overview:

As the Lead Modeling/Texturing Artist, you'll spearhead our Modeling team, guiding and inspiring artists to create high-quality 3D models and textures. Your role involves setting the artistic direction, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring seamless integration of assets. You'll oversee quality assurance, implement revisions, and identify workflow improvements, collaborating with technical teams to implement best practices. Fostering a culture of continuous learning, you'll provide mentorship and training opportunities while actively contributing to project discussions and creative brainstorming sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of modeling and texturing artists, providing guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Set the artistic direction for the team, ensuring that all assets align with the project's creative vision and goals.
  • Collaborate closely with animators, riggers, and other cross-functional teams to effectively integrate models and textures.
  • Provide innovative insights and contribute to project discussions and creative decision-making.
  • Oversee the quality assurance process, regularly reviewing models and textures to ensure they meet our high standards.
  • Implement feedback and revisions as needed, while identifying opportunities for workflow improvements.
  • Work closely with technical teams to develop and implement industry-best practices and efficient tools.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team, offering mentorship and training opportunities.
  • Collaborate with concept artists, directors, and producers to bring creative concepts to life, enhancing visual storytelling.
  • Take a leadership role in brainstorming sessions and artistic decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a senior modeling/texturing artist, with a strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality work in 3D modeling and texturing.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team, with the ability to inspire and foster creativity and growth in others.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, etc.).
  • Familiarity with animation and rigging pipelines, and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • A keen eye for detail and an understanding of how models and textures contribute to the overall creative vision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The wage range for this role reflects compensation across all of ICON's projects. The final salary will be determined based on the specific position, the current show assignment, and the applicant's experience and portfolio. This range accounts for varying levels of experience and responsibilities.
