Job Position: IT Network / Systems Administrator

 Full Job Description

We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated, and personable individual to join our team and maintain all aspects of our company’s IT infrastructure. This includes providing excellent technical support for our employees and IT systems, managing network and general IT infrastructure. This role offers ample opportunity to be involved in various areas of IT, taking the lead in some and providing secondary support in others. Ideally, you will be able to start ASAP and be excited to join a small team implementing major projects early in the new year, helping to define, select, implement, and support technology that will propel the company into the future.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Support and administration
  • Primary support of all in house Microsoft AD Servers, including on prem exchange email servers. Advanced knowledge working with on-prem Exchange servers a mandatory.
  • Support for a small user base of +45 users, providing timely remote support for day-to-day issues related to remote access, Office 365, Active Directory login, and other computer software or hardware issues.
  • On-site presence required at our downtown Vancouver office. Remote working is not an option.

  1. Servers, clients, and network infrastructure
  • Maintenance and administration of all servers and services, co-managing existing server and network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi APs).
  • Management of remote workers connecting via Microsoft server VPN services
  • Management of server SSL certificates
  1. Projects
  • Key role in planning, configuration, and implementation of IT projects.

  1. Data/Databases/Power BI/Power Apps
  • Maintain internet connectivity to booking API portals and server security for both Windows and Linux-based infrastructure.

  1. Backup and Security
  • Oversee configuration, monitoring, patching, and reporting of security tools. Maintain and implement new backup strategies as our infrastructure evolves.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in an IT administrator or generalist role (or cross-role experience) preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in all aspects of IT – Support, Servers, Databases, Networking, Security and Projects is preferred.
  • Technical certifications are considered, but not required.
  • A post-graduate qualification in Computer Science or Information Technology is preferred but not required.

Skills:

Experience or knowledge of the following technical skills is preferred:

Servers/Clients:

  • Physical and Virtual (VMWare & Hyper-V)
  • Windows OS / Exchange (AD, GPO, PowerShell)
  • O365 and Azure (O365 admin, Azure admin)
  • Linux Server OS / Application Admin (Apache / MySQL, PHP)
  • Windows 10 / 11 Desktop setup & configuration
  • Microsoft Exchange Server ( 2013 / 2019 ) administration / On-Prem and Hybrid O365
  • AWS Hosting & backup strategies
  • Offsite Back and data storage providers (AWS / Wasabi)

Networking:

  • Cisco / IPTables / Kerio / pfSense / OPNsense (Firewalls, Switches, WiFi AP’s)
  • Printers – Managed
  • Monitoring

Databases/Analytics/BI:

  • Microsoft SQL
  • Power BI

Candidate Qualities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to provide in-person support and present solutions in non-technical terms.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with logical thinking and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communication with an attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team, assist co-workers, and collaborate on big projects.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and service requests.
  • Willingness to take on various roles and solve complex problems.

Additional Information: 

  • Full-time, on-site position. Remote working is not an option.
  • Must be willing to occasionally work unsociable or extra hours to meet deadlines. Hours can be considered for future time off.
  • The role may require lifting and carrying heavy equipment. Casual dress code, but reasonable standards are expected.
  • Part of a small IT team, enthusiasm for all aspects of IT is essential.

Experience: Evaluated at the interview stage; all schooling and accreditations considered

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
