Quality Assurance Technician – B&B Concrete Ltd. (Saskay Ready Mix)

B&B Contracting Group is seeking a qualified Quality Assurance Technician for our Concrete division.

The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician at B&B Concrete is responsible for implementing quality control measures to ensure the safe production and shipping of our concrete products. The primary goal of this role is to maintain the quality and consistency of the concrete, address any issues that arise promptly, and uphold high standards throughout the production process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Health & Safety:

  • Uphold a safe work environment by strictly adhering to BBG safety policies and work procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, MOTH, ACI, CCI, CSA) and regulatory requirements.
  • Be actively involved in risk analysis for lab and field activities.
  • Develop and apply improvement plans related to health, safety, and ergonomics.

Operations Support:

  • Ensure the Quality Plan for produced and shipped materials is consistently applied.
  • Enter all testing results into our quality control (QC) software and analyze the data.
  • Share testing results with the operations teams to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to make necessary production adjustments to ensure product conformance.
  • Keep all technical documentation updated according to the Quality Plan.

Technical Support and Quality Control:

  • Conduct tests on plastic concrete for air content, slump, temperature, and mold concrete cylinders.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with sales, operations, and customer support teams.
  • Provide customer support by visiting job sites for testing and technical troubleshooting.
  • Assist in administrative activities and ensure documentation is updated to maintain Concrete BC Certification.
  • Support sales, production, or administrative teams as needed, including report preparation and special projects.
  • Participate in the preparation and execution of corrective/preventive action plans to improve quality.

Internal Collaboration:

  • Report to the Director of Quality Assurance and provide feedback.
  • Collaborate with plant, operations, and sales teams to aid in the production and delivery of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or equivalent.
  • Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and tolerate loud noises.
  • Availability for shift work is required, including the possibility of overtime and weekend work to meet customer demands.
  • Capable of performing a variety of tasks, including moderate to heavy lifting, bending, reaching, and carrying.
  • Experience in the construction materials industry (aggregates, asphalt, and concrete) with knowledge of quality control tests.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of building good relationships internally and externally.
  • Ability to work well both as part of a team and independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and the ability to travel to job sites as needed.
